Located on a hillside, overlooking a well known wine-producing valley in Pelau, Sardinia. This newly built property benefits from beautiful views on all sides and is a haven of tranquillity for any holidaymaker. The property is extremely spacious with large open plan living spaces and open terraces for most rooms. The property has been designed with the sun in mind - cool in summer but well lit and bright in the winter months. As we have a strong interest in being as eco-friendly as possible, the building has a number of features to try and minimise its impact on the environment. Property comprises 2 and 3 bedroom apartments that can also be rented as a 5 bedroom villa.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday and we generally ask people to leave by 11am and arrive after 2pm. In off-peak months we can be relatively flexible about this and feel free to ask if this is any problem at all.

Notes on accommodation
The property has been designed with the summer sun in mind. We have shutters and shaded balconies and rooms, plus dual aspect rooms to encourage ventilation. There is air conditioning available in all rooms but this should not be needed - although it can be used for heating in winter.
Towels and linen included (excluding beach towels). Towels and linen changed weekly (extra cleaning is available by request and at extra cost).
There is a one-off cleaning charge per stay otherwise.
Eco-wise the property has solar heated water, good wall and roof insulation, rainwater storage tanks which are used for toilet water supply, a 3kw solar electric generating facility on the roof and A or A+ rated appliances in the kitchens and laundries, plus dishwashers and washing machines that use water efficiently.

Accessibility
The villa is not suitable for anyone who cannot use stairs easily.

Outside
The villa features beautiful terraces on both levels with views in all directions. There are relaxing loungers and tables and chairs for al fresco dining. The garden is relatively new but there are a number of fig, almond and citrus trees on the property.

Coast/Beach
The local beaches (10 mins drive) are well known for their crystal clear water and long sandy stretches. Slightly further afield there are a large number of possible beach destinations - including extremely secluded beaches accessible by foot and gently sloping beaches for those with young children.

Travel
1 hour 45 minutes from Cagliari (100km).
2 hours from Olbia (200km).
3 hours from Alghero.
Car hire essential as for anywhere in Sardegna.
Daily flights during April-September are available with Easyjet (Cagliari and Olbia) and BA (Cagliari). Ryanair fly to Alghero but this is a fair drive. Charter airlines also fly to Sardinia in summer - Meridiana is the standard one but best to check specifically.

Distances
Local shops are in the village of Cardedu, a 5-10 minute drive away.

Further details
There are 2 excellent, informal restaurants in the valley within a 2 minute drive or a pleasant 20 minute walk. Numerous other restaurants in nearby villages or by the beach.
Depending on the season there a number of activities possible. In summer the beach rules and there are boat trips up the coast, plus scuba diving and kayaking available. Authentic Italian ice cream is available in a number of places but Tortoli is our favourite.
There are some beautiful local spots such as Santa Maria Navarrese and a drive up through the local mountains reveals some stunning views and excellent walking opportunities. There are some lovely limestone caves in nearby Ulassai which are lovely and cool in the summer months and have guided tours.
The cantina in Jerzu is a must-visit for anyone who enjoys wine and if you come at the end of September you can witness or take part in the local grape harvest.
In the cooler months hiking and rock-climbing in the hills and mountains are extremely popular and getting out and seeing some of the local produce up close is great fun.
We also highly recommend falling asleep on the veranda.
Sportswise we have a newly resurfaced tennis court available 1km away which is free of charge.
