Owned by two British families with roots in the area, Le Rondini are situated on a small development of villettas on a quiet wooded hillside, overlooking the beautiful and undiscovered Val di Cornia. Our patios have views across the valley towards Monteverdi and Monterotondo and in the distance the sea and the island of Elba. The houses can be rented separately or together for two families as they are next door to one another. The beach at Castagneto is close enough for those who like to swim. The properties are comfortably furnished to a high standard in local style and have a garden and patio for outdoor living. Most of the nearby properties are owned by Italians who come here to escape the heat and overcrowded cities in the summer. Our guests can enjoy the cooler climate of the hills and still be near the sea. For those wanting to see the sights Florence, Siena and Pisa are within easy reach. This is ideal country for walking, cycling, horse riding or touring.

Changeover day
Changeover day can be Saturday or Wednesday. There is flexibility in this in the less busy season. Arrival after 4pm. Departure before 10am.
Le Rondini A (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4/6)

We have 2 good sized twin bedded rooms.
Bathroom with shower and washing machine.
Kitchen with dishwasher, oven, hob and fridge/freezer.
Living area with large comfortable sofa bed (sleeps 2 adults).
There is a patio with outdoor furniture seating up to 8 for alfresco dining and a lawned garden.
The views across the valley are lovely.

Le Rondini B (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4/56)
|
We have 2 spacious twin bedded rooms and one bathroom with shower.
The sofa in the living room has a pull out bed so the house sleeps 4 adults and one child comfortably.
There is a separate galley kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, hob, oven, fridge/freezer.
There is a patio with outdoor furniture for dining outside and a small area of lawn with views of the valley and trees

Notes on accommodation
We have full central heating for the winter. There are insect screens to all doors and windows. Small children are very welcome but should be supervised as there are some steps in both gardens. Please note beach towels are not provided.
Accessibility
Both houses quite suitable for the disabled. However there are a couple of steps to the front door.
Outside
Le Rondini A has a larger garden than B with more lawn. Both houses have a BBQ. There are lovely walks directly from the house into the hills which abound with wildlife, from tiny birds to wild boar and deer.
Coast/Beach
There are good beaches at Marina di Castagneto (25 mins), San Vincenzo (35 mins) and Baratti (45 mins) excellent for small children. The Cavallino Matto theme park and mini golf at Marina di Castagneto is excellent for small children. There is also a water park at Cecina (35 mins).
Travel
Pisa airport 90km. Car hire is essential.
Distances
Monteverdi Marittimo 5km. Castagneto Carducci 10km. Florence 120km. Pisa 90km.
Further details
Local shops can be found at Monteverdi Marittimo and Sassetta, both 10 minutes away. Larger supermarkets are at Donoratico (10km) There is a choice of excellent restaurants, details of which can be found in each house. The cuisine includes locally available meat, game produce, home-made pasta and is simple but delicious. There are also many vineyards in the area which can be visited to buy or just to taste. Many of the 'Supertuscan' wines such as Ornellaia and Sassicaia are grown nearby. There are interesting and pretty medieval towns and villages to visit and beautiful countryside to enjoy.
Booking notes
50% deposit is required to book. The balance should be paid 6 weeks before departure. Cancellation charges apply. Security deposit £120. Sofa bed use is £60 per week extra in Le Rondini A. Final cleaning is included, however if there area any breakages or the house is left in an unreasonable condition involving us in extra cleaning costs, these costs will be deducted from the security deposit.
