Changeover day
Arrival time is preferred in the afternoon between 3-6pm. Rooms must be freed by 11.00am on the day of departure. There is no fixed arrival day.

Agriturismo Contrada Durano

All rooms are immaculately clean, beautifully furnished with original paintings, TV, mini bars, fly screens at all windows, and large very comfortable double beds made up with the best fabrics. There are no single beds. Most bedrooms have independent external entrances. All bathrooms are of a good size with extra large power showers, large mirrors and are supplied with hair dryers and courtesy products. Rooms are cleaned daily and every three days all beds and supplied towels are changed. Breakfasts are served only in the main dining room, breakfast is not a buffet.

Notes on accommodation
All bedrooms and communal rooms are centrally heated and heating is put on when necessary. In the sitting room there is a wood burning fire place. As an old building with thick walls there is little need for air-conditioning, but in the warmest months ventilator fans are available. This place has an adult only policy and only children over 12 years are accepted.

Accessibility
As a 17th century building we do not judge it as suitable for people with serious mobility problems or for wheelchair users.

Outside
A lovely garden is available for guests. Fully planted with mature trees, shrubs and vines. There is a sun terrace with outdoor furniture for sun bathing reading and relaxation, a four person jacuzzi hot tub under a gazebo is available. The property also has it's own woodlands for quiet walks, observing the local flora and fauna like the numerous wild orchids. There is an outside courtyard with tables and chairs behind the house, where in the warm weather, guests may enjoy aperitivo's before dining. All the area surrounding the house, including the garden is illuminated in the evening. The house has ample safe car parking facilities on a flat gravel surface.

Coast/Beach
Contrada Durano is approximately 42kms from the coast.
Allowing between 40-50 mins driving time, one can reach very pleasant local beaches, mostly sandy, very safe beaches, most of which have provision for sun beds and umbrellas and chalet style fish restaurants on the beach all with easy parking facilities. At 1.5 hours driving wilder rocky coast is well worth a day trip by car.

Skiing
Subject to metereological conditions, excellent quiet skiing facilities are available at less than 40 minutes by car from the house. Ski equpiment can also be rented directly at the ski slopes. Generally skiing takes place between the months of January to early April.

Travel
We consider that the use of a car is essential here. Contrada Durano is 1.5 hours from the airports of Ancona and Pescara both served from London Stansted by Ryan air flights. It is 2.5 hour drive to Assisi, 3.5 hours from Roma, 2.5 hours from Bologna and Perugia. In the vicinity (4-10 kms) there are numerous medieval villages and towns all worth visiting.

Distances
Contrada Durano is 2kms, which can be walked, to the village of Smerillo, 5kms from Montefalcone. 12 kms from the town of Amandola, 10 from Servigliano. 45 kms from the provincial capital of Ascoli Piceno and 50kms from Macerata. 10kms to the National park of the Monti Sibillini and the mountains, 40-45kms to the coast.

Further details
Contrada Durano offers it's excellent dining facilities, besides it's breakfasts, but the owners are only too happy to recommend alternative venues and restaurants in the area to guests. Within a few kms there are local shops where almost everything can be found. All local banks have cash machine facilities. Very interesting, are the local factory outlets of important designer brands like Todd's shoes, Prada clothing. The owners will supply guests with detailed info, opening times etc on request. Other locally available activities include hand gliding, hot air ballooning, horse riding, fishing on private lakes, in the summer and autumn there are numerous festivals and medieval reinactments in many of the local villages.

Booking notes
Booking must be done in writing either by email or fax. The minimum stay is 2 nights and 3 nights in August. A valid credit card number as guarantee of booking is asked for and electronic payment is preferred. Payment is only due on departure. Cash is accepted in EURO only. Personal or travellers cheques and foreign currency are not accepted as payment.
