Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. For further 2012 prices please ask. Off-peak discounts may be possible for lets for more than 2 weeks. Pool opened at Easter and closed October. La Salvia is available from 3pm on the date of your arrival and must be vacated by 10am on your departure date.

Notes on accommodation
Children are welcome at La Salvia but please note the garden in steeply terraced and the pool (shut Oct-March inc) is a constant depth of 1.4m with large steps at one corner. The woods are inviting but the incline is very steep and children should be supervised when exploring. There is an iron spiral staircase leading from the kitchen to the cellar rooms and an open fireplace so parents with toddlers should take special care. The 2 lounges, each with a TV are ideal for separate children's and adults' lounges should needs be.
Accessibility
It is not possible to reach a bedroom or WC without using steps/stairs so the particularly elderly or infirm may wish to take this into consideration. There is parking for 1 car outside the front door of the house. Other vehicles to be left in the village car park 50m from the house.
Outside
There are 4 south facing verandas/patios all with garden furniture and sun loungers/parasols by the pool. The pool is 4m x 8m with steps to 1 side and ladders to the other and a constant depth of 1.4m filled with soft salinated water from the village spring. The pool is not heated and is therefore closed from October - March inclusive.
La Salvia stands in approx 1/3 acre of terraced gardens, a considerable size for a mountain village house, and overlooks uninterrupted views of the Tuscan hills and distant villages.
The original pizza oven is accessed from the lower covered terrace and the making of homemade pizza can lead to a memorable evening! The oven can also be used for excellent roasts and baking!
There is an outside WC positioned conveniently outside the games room and a grassed area for badminton.
Coast/Beach
The beautiful upmarket beach resort of Versilia is only an hour's drive away and well worth a days trip in the summer.
A vast expanse of pristine powdery sand lies at the foot of the mountains where you can hire beach beds, parasols, pergolas, pedalos from the restaurants lining the beach.
Skiing
Abetone is 45 mins by car from Bagni di Lucca. Often used as a training ground for both British and Italian ski teams and with 21 skilifts facilities for all skill levels.
Travel
Pisa airport is 1 hour by car, Florence approx 1.5 hours.
The port of Livorno is also approx' 1.5 hours by car.
A car will be necessary for the duration of your stay.
Distances
La Salvia is found in Northern Tuscany, 5mins by car from Bagni di Lucca known for its Roman spas still in operation and for the Casino where roulette was invented. 30 mins drive from medieval walled town of Lucca, Bagni di Lucca straddles the river Lima having all the amenities, bars, shops and restaurants required for a memorable holiday. Illario, the multilingual owner of the Del Sonno Restaurant, will supply you with award winning pizza bases to cook on the restored oven at La Salvia.

The famous Casino, 6 mins from la Salvia, re-opened for gambling after extensive renovation in August 2009. There are 2 banks in Bagni di Lucca, several lovely restaurants, 3 supermarkets (the largest being Conad). Market days in Bagni di Lucca are Saturday and Wednesday and in Fornoli Friday and Tuesday (both markets approx 4km from La Salvia). Just 3km from La Salvia down a breathtakingly picturesque wooded, winding mountain road and at the foot of the hill is the thermal complex based upon 19 springs of water containing salts of sulphur and calcium reaching natural temperatures of up to 67f(54c). Global Village - holistic medicine and well being centre at the Villa Demidoff and Bagni di Lucca Terme/Jean Verraud offering all the usual beauty treatments plus plunge pools, a swimming pool filled with naturally warm spring water and grotto filled with natural steam emitted from the walls of the cave. Within easy driving distance are Lucca where you can hire bikes/tandems/tagalongs/buggies to cycle round the city walls, Pisa - more than just the tower, Cinque Terra UNESCO world heritage site - 5 lovely fishing villages dotted along a turquoise coast line accessed by a footpath or train journey hugging the cliffs, Florence - need I say more? Collodi - Pinoccio park and birthplace of the author of Pinoccio, Grotto del Vente - fantastic natural caves with guided tours hourly in all languages, Barga - with its jazz festivals and Orrido di Bottri - Italy's largest natural gorge with a network of hiking trails, golden eagles and wild boar on the doorstep.
Booking notes
20% non-refundable deposit required on booking. Payment in full required (cleared funds) at least 8 weeks prior to arrival date together with security deposit. Security deposit of £250 required for bookings of up to 2 weeks. Thereafter plus £100 per week. Security deposit to be refunded in full within 14 days of departure date if no deductions for breakages are due. Payment by sterling cheque/draft or bank transfer only.
