The Queen of the Castle, as its name La Castellana indicates, lies in a panoramic position on the edge of the fortified, hilltop hamlet of Borgiano. Only 15 minutes drive away is the Roman town of Spoleto, once the historical rival of Perugia as the provincial capital of Umbria. It boasts a Roman theatre, several early Christian churches, a Cathedral with extraordinary frescoes by Fillipo Lippi, an imposing fortress of Cardinal Albornoz and a medieval aquaduct spanning the valley. It is also famed for its international Festival Dei Due Mondi, showcasing music, dance and theatre in June and July. Borgiano is ideally situated for trips to Todi, Orvieto, Assisi and Perugia, and Rome can be reached in just over one hour. The hamlet lies on the edge of the vast, unspoilt area known as the Valnerina which has a natural park, hilltop villages, hidden Romanesque churches and towns of historical interest such as Norcia and Cascia.

Prices shown are for the property per week in UK pounds and e. Extra costs: Heating directly to pay in Italy £10 a day. For long winter lets (minimum 3 months) the price is £1100 per month and does not include heating.
Changeover day
Our prices are per week from Saturday to Saturday and include the cost of gas, electricity, linen, towels and final cleaning. Additional costs like heating are directly payable in Italy. Arrival time between 3pm and 8pm. Departure time within 10am.

Notes on accommodation
On the ground floor is a small entrance hall, a shower/wc and stairs leading to the upper floor, where there is a large kitchen/dining room with fireplace and lovely views, leading to a romantic, balustraded terrace, a large living room with single sofa bed, two double and one twin bedroom, shower/wc and washing machine. The terraced garden of 1000 sqm. is completely fenced, it has a private parking, a pergola, a private pool (8x4 meters) only for the guests.

From the South: Motorway Roma Nord-Firenze, exit Orte 45 km away from the property. From the North: Motorway Firenze-Roma, exit Valdichiana 90 km away from the property. Important! Nearest airport Perugia s. Egidio (only 30 mins from the property far away): direct connection with Ryanair from London Stansted. Airport: Roma Fiumicino (Leonardo Da Vinci) and Roma Ciampino, both 130km. Ancona 130km. A car is essential.
Distances
The nearest town for shopping, restaurants, post offices, supermarkets, banks etc. is Spoleto, only 8.6 Km from the property.
In 30 minutes you can also visit a lot of historcal towns of Umbria like Assisi, Spello, Bevagna, Montefalco, Trevi. In less than 1 hour you will reach Perugia, Orvieto, Todi, Gubbio.
