Built in the 15th C, Sogna La Fonte has been renovated with an eye to history: original exterior stone ovens, ancient stone floors and walls,chestnut beams and terracotta ceilings, open fireplace and interior walls have been masterfully restored; appointments and furnishings are an amalgamation of antique and new. As a guest at Sogna you can swim, play tennis, relax, eat under the shaded pergola or just relax. The small cottages are situated on top of a hill connected with little paths. You can observe the rest of a medieval stonewall where wild capers grow. And sometimes you can take part in a wedding ceremony in the small old church. The houses are normally used by the owners and are only rented sometimes. This means privacy. Situated away from the mainstreet, tranquility and peace are guaranteed. Ideal for 2 couples or families of 4, looking for countryside, peace and tranquility while still being within easy reach of Tuscany's historical places like Siena, Arezzo, Florence.

Changeover day
Rent begins on Saturday on a weekly basis.
Arrival and departure: guests are expected to enter the properties on Saturdays from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm. Departure: Saturday morning between 8.00 am and 10.00 am. Please respect this time schedule.

Notes on accommodation
The stylish apartment is located on the groundfloor, idyllically placed amidst 13 hectares of private land. Wonderful views from the garden over the wide landscape. Much privacy. Perfect starting point for daytrips into every Tuscany region. Ideal for couples or families (max 4 pers) looking for countryside, peace and tranquility while still being within easy reach to Tuscany's historical places like Siena, Arezzo, and Florence.
Facilities: antique stone oven (pizza), open fireplace, Satellite/cable TV, gas fired central heating and a fully stocked kitchen. All windows have insect screens, a room fan is available. - The lanes are cobbled and such, are not recommended for people who are not steady on their feet.

Outside
Relaxing and tanning are only a few paces away at Sogna’s swimming pool. Stone-lined and set amid terraces, olives and panoramic views, the pool makes for delightful refreshment on a hot summer’s day. You may also avail yourself of a sauna or the tennis court, also located on the Sogna grounds. Next to the pool you find the sauna with WC and shower. Lounge chairs invite you to spend wonderful sunny hours by the naturally shaped pool (18 x 7m).

Travel
There are direct flights to Florence from most major European cities; the house itself is just under an hour from Florence airport. Low cost airlines fly into Pisa and also Peruga airport, which are a two-hour-drive from Sogna. Even Rome is suitable, which is a little over a two and a half hours drive to Sogna. There is no public transportation availale in Sogna therefore car hire is essential.

Restaurants, grocery shop, bank, laundry (Ambra) 4 km. Siena 32 km (25 min.) Arezzo 35 km (35 min.) Florence 65 km (45 min.)One-hour-car drive to Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, Orvieto, San Gimignano, Cortona, 1 1/2h to reach Volterra, Perugia or Assisi.

Further details
Sogna is ideally situated to set off in any direction: you may begin with a walk along the hilltop to the neighbouring Borgo Rapale. Then discover the nearby medieval places like Ambra, Badia a Ruoti, Cennina, Montebenichi, Bucine.
Visit the antique towns like Florence where the Renaissance had its origins with enormous palaces (Palazzo Pitti) and museums (Uffizii), the Dome of Florence, the Ponte Vecchio and many famous churches and monasteries.
Siena where you must see "Il Campo" which is said to be the most beautiful place in the world. Arezzo and the famous flee market every first weekend of the month, but even the smaller villages are exciting. For example Pienza, which Pope Piccolomini created as his "ideal town", the famous vine centers Montalcino, Montepulciano are a must. Don't mix them up with the famous Chianti villages like Gaiole, Radda, Greve, Castellina. Even if you are not enthusiastic of red or white vine: believe me, after your stay in Tuscany you will love it. Last but not least don't miss the old Roman hot springs: Bagno Vignoni, Rapolano Therme or Saturnia - try to visit one of the famous little town festivals full of tradition. The best known of all surely are the "Palio" of Siena (every year at the beginnig of June and midst of August) and the "Giostra del Saracino" of Arezzo (first Sunday in September).
Shopping is one of your hobbies? There are a number of factory outlets not far away: it is a 25 minute car drive to Montevarchi where you find the nearest outlet to Sogna. Labels like Prada, Jill Sander, Miu Miu, and Helmut Lang.
If this seems not enough, try to visit "The Mall" one of the biggest high- evel outlet stores south of Florence, where you find the labels: Bottega Veneta, Emanuel Ungaro, Ermenegildo Zenga, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Loro Piana, Hogan, La Perla, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tod’s, Sergio Rossi, Valentino, and Yves St. Laurent a.s.o. Nearby there are two other Outlets: Fendi, Celine, Loewe and Dolce and Gabbana.

Booking notes
For reservation of Sogna la Fonte a 30% deposit of the total rent is needed, at least seven weeks before your arrival. A security deposit of 200 euros has to be paid when you get the keys. You will get the money back on your departure if no defects and damages are caused during your stay. To protect against cancellation, due to illness and others, we STRONGLY recommend purchasing trip cancellation insurance to provide recourse for deposits and balances paid.

We can't tell you how much we have enjoyed our stay here at Sogna. Donna and I are leaving tomorrow, both of us changed for our experiences here in Tuscany! Although Herbert nearly lost Scott to the "wild boars", learning Cortona, he survived and is all the better for the drive!
We hope to return and promise to learn more about wine and come to appricciate the spirit as much as Donna does her beer! So very, very nice to have met you, Herbert- and Kiki, we look forward to some day meeting you and sharing a glass of wine (or beer, if Donna has her way!)
