Casa Colomba is a restored farm building set on the woodland fringes of Orciatico, an ancient hilltop village 400 metres above sea level. There are superb sweeping views from every side over the Tuscan hills towards Pisa, Florence and Volterra. Comfortably and stylishly furnished, the house has many artistic touches and original features. It has balcony and terrace seating areas and a fully enclosed garden with patio, lawn and olive trees. The Main House is very comfortable, spacious and well equipped, and has a good stock of books, music and videos. It is very child-friendly with a playroom full of toys and games. The Apartment is more compact, although very comfortable and stylish. It is perfect for a couple wanting a cosy and economical resting place. The whole house together is ideal for families or larger groups.

Exclusive use of the house is possible for an additional £50. This means you will not have to share any part of the property with other guests.
Changeover day
Changeover day is normally Sunday. Flexibility in low season. Arrival time after 2.00pm, departure at 10.00 am.

Notes on accommodation
Central heating.
Very child friendly - lots of toys including Brio train set, Lego, Table football, bats and balls.
There are some potential hazards for young children to be aware of, and extra care may be needed. There is a spiral staircase, which leads directly from the Main House sitting room on the first floor to the playroom on the lower level. The windows in the kitchen and main bedroom have low sills, and should not be left open if there are young children staying as they could easily fall out. The balcony has some fencing to prevent children - or anyone else! - from falling - however, a young child might be able to push through so they must never be left unattended.
I should add that we have had lively children of all ages staying without mishap, but some basic precautions are essential.

Coast/Beach
The nearest seaside is at Cecina, 45 minutes drive. This has excellent beaches, and a fantastic waterpark which is great for kids (and grown ups).
There are excellent outdoor swimming pools at nearby Chianni and Peccioli.
Travel
Pisa airport 45 miutes. Car hire essential.
Distances
20 Minutes drive to Volterra and San Gimignano.
1 hour to Florence and Siena.

Orciatico has a very friendly bar, where you can pick up all the local gossip!
It has a Co-op general store and a delicatessen. There is also a bank and post office, and a weekly market.
There is a restaurant that serves typical Tuscan cuisine at very reasonable prices.
