Sitting in 20 hectares, bordering Tuscany and Umbria, Casa Sorbello enjoys commanding views overlooking the beautiful green Niccone valley, with its two medieval castles. The house is about 1km from the main road down a quiet lane. Round the house there is a garden where you can sit and relax and watch the breeze ripple the silver leaves of the olive trees, or take a dip in the pool. Breakfast or dinner on the south-facing terrace, with magnificent views to the rolling Umbrian hills, is a special feature of the house.

The letting week is from Saturday to Saturday. Winter: Special prices are available depending on length of stay.
Changeover day
The rental week is from Saturday to Saturday. Incoming guests are requested to plan their arrival after 4pm and departing guests should vacate the property by 10am on the Saturday morning.

Notes on accommodation
The house is entered through a hallway/sitting area off which there are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom. Stairs lead down to the sitting room, kitchen/dining room and second bathroom. It is attactively furnished with cottage style furniture and fittings.
Outside
On the terrace below the house there is a large (11m x 5m)private swimming pool with breathtaking views across the Niccone valley to the hills beyond. Deck chairs and sun loungers are available and an umbrella provides shade. A table and chairs on the south facing terrace by the kitchen make eating al fresco a natural event. To the side of the house there is a large barbecue set in the wall adjacent to the kitchen for convenience.
Coast/Beach
Beaches on either side of the country on the Adriatic or Mediterranean coast are about 3 hours drive.
Golf
The nearest golf course is at Antognola, near Umbertide (about 1/2 hour drive) and there is another close to Perugia.

7 airports serve the area, with several daily flights.

Bologna (Forli): Ryanair.
Florence: Meridiana.

erugia can be reached in less than an hour, Florence and Forli are about 2 hours drive, Ancona, Bologna and Pisa about 2 1/2 hours and Rome 3 hours.
Car hire is essential.
Distances
The nearest small town, Mercatale, is 10 minutes by car and has 2 supermarkets, butchers, an excellent baker, chemist, banks, Post Office, bars, petrol station and a family run tratoria. Larger supermarkets can be found at Camucia and Umbertide both about 25 minutes drive.
Florence is about 2 hours drive, Siena 1 1/4 hours, Assisi 1 1/4 hours, Cortona 1/2 hour, Perugia 3/4 hour.
Further details
Casa Sorbello is an ideal base for sightseeing trips to the famous walled, medieval cities of Florence, Siena, Perugia and Assisi as well as the smallar but equally beautiful towns of Citta di Castello, Cortona, Deruta, Gubbio, Montepulciano, Montone, Orvieto, Speleto, Todi and Urbino among others. These towns are steeped in history and offer a wealth of art, archetecture and ceramics as well as many restaurants where you can relax and enjoy the culinary specialities of the area.
Lake Trasimeno with its beaches and restaurants is about 25 minutes away. Here there are facilities for sailing and windsurfing and a regular boat service runs to the islands of Isola Maggiore and Polvese where a pleasant day may be spent. Passignano is a little resort town on the northern shore of the lake where boats and pedalloes can be rented.
Tennis courts are available for rent in Mercatale and there are riding stables nearby that offer one of the more pleasurable ways of seeing the countryside.

Reservations can be made through Matt Jackson by phone or email. A deposit of a third of the rental is requested for reservations made more than 4 months before the rental period and 50% if between 4 and 2 months. The balance is due not less than 8 weeks before the start of the rental.
