This recently restored villa is located in the heart of Puglia’s country-side. With no immediate neighbours and totally surrounded by olive groves, Villa Capperi offers total seclusion and serenity. Accessed by a pine fringed drive and surrounded by dry stone walls. The villa is set in over three acres of land with olive trees and a variety of fruit trees. Located just over 3km’s from Puglia’s finest beach and nature reserve at Torre Gauceto, the villa is perfectly situated for lovers of sun and sand. The fine old town of Carovigno with its many bars and restaurants, castle and old town is just 5km away.

Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds. Please contact the owners regarding low season mid week to mid week bookings.

Changeover day
Changeover day is normally Saturday. Please contact the owners about midweek lettings out of season. You will be met at the Villa by an English speaking key holder who will explain the Villa's facilities.

Accommodation

 

Notes on accommodation
The Villa has a three acre estate which is surrounded by a traditional Puglian dry stone wall. Guests will be required to operate the modern security system. Villa Capperi has a very large roof terrace (200sqm) with stunning views across the estate. Entrance to the roof terrace is via a gated stairway, however, we recommend that parents of young children should not leave them unattended. Air-conditioning is available at no extra cost provided usage is not excessive. Like all air-conditioning, it requires windows and doors to be closed to work properly and minimise electricity costs. However, the villa is naturally cool if you observe the Italian custom of closing the shutters when the sun is at its hottest. Please note that the pool is open to the grounds and we recommend that children should be accompanied at all times. Sorry, no pets. This is a non-smoking villa.

Accessibility
Single floor property.

Outside
Terraces surround the villa with an extensive main marble-floored veranda at the front of the villa. The veranda leads onto the large private swimming pool (12m x 4.5m) which is surrounded by a dry stone wall. The Villa has a king-size outdoor table and chairs, barbecue, sunbeds, poolside chairs etc.

Coast/Beach
We are only 5 mins (3 kms) from Puglia's finest beach at Torre Gauceto and to the west the Med (Ionian sea) is only 30-40 mins drive.

Travel
We are an easy drive 25 mins from Brindisi port and airport (Ryanair) and 75 mins from Bari airport (BA and Ryanair). Car hire is essential due to the Villa's secluded location. In addition, there are frequent inexpensive flights from all over Europe that go to Naples. The journey from Naples to Puglia is mainly motorway and is a comfortable 3.5 hours. BA flights to Bari fill up early. If you are coming to Puglia we recommend that you book early.

Distances
The Villa is 3km from the nearest beach. 4km from the nature reserve and extensive golden sands at Torre Gauceto. Ostuni is no more than 20 mins drive. We are 5km from both the town of Carovigno with its attractive old town and the lively resort and beach of Santa Sabina. Lecce with its famous Baroque architecture is just half an hours drive away as are Locorotondo, Francavilla and Alberobello.

Further details
We are 4km from the large supermarket on the outskirts of San Vito. Carovigno has beautiful churches, a castle and a nearby underground grotto at Belvedere. Carovigno is well known throughout Puglia for its cuisine and each restaurant is proud of its specialities featuring local produce such as olives, tomatoes, cheese and fish. You won't need to look further than house wines which are superb value. The lively coastal resort of Santa Sabena with its superb restaurants and pizzerias is just 10 minutes drive away and a favourite destination for Villa Capperi's guests.

Booking notes
Bookings can be made by contacting the owners and can be secured on receipt of a 30% deposit. In cases of cancellation this is non refundable. Confirmation of booking will be sent on receipt of deposit. Pay balance by cheque or bank transfer 2 months prior to departure. Details of how to reach property and pick-up keys will be sent on receipt of final payment. There is a £150 security/breakage deposit also payable 2 months in advance. This is returnable minus breakages.
