The house is situated on the border of Tuscany and Umbria, half an hour from Cortona. The two acres of terraced hillside is well kept with olives, fruit and vines and overlooks the picturesque Morra valley which leads to the historic hill-top town of Castiglion Fiorentino.

Notes on accommodation
The house is centrally heated as well as having 2 open fireplaces. It is suitable for children with a child gate at the top of the stairs although the grounds are open terraces in some parts. There is a cot and high chair available -please note on booking.

Accessibility
Would be difficult for disabled people as all bedrooms are on the upper floor, though one of the bathrooms is on the ground floor.
Outside
Private pool for sole use of guests - 12m x 6m. Situated on the same terrace as the house with hand made cotto tiled surround. There is a stunning view over the valley from the pool and olive, and fruit trees on the lower terraces. The pool is a salt pool as opposed to chlorine and has an attractive dark liner which shows up the sparkling water.
Coast/Beach
There is a man-made beach on Lake Trasimeno, about 45 mins by car. It has a restaurant and bar and you can get the ferry to the major island on the lake.
Travel
Ancona 2.5 hours, Forli 2 hours, Rome 2.5 - 3 hours, Florence 2 hours. Perugia airport is now being used by Ryanair - only 45 mins from the house. Car hire is essential and can be booked at any of the above airports.
Distances
There is a small supermarket at the bottom of the hill which sells most things but the nearest town with banks, bakers etc is Trestina - approx 15 mins by car. Assissi, Siena, Orvieto and many other well-known places of interest are all about 1 to 2 hours drive.
Further details
For immediate needs there is a general store and bar at the bottom of the hill - some hardy guests have walked to shop or use the bar, but it's a long walk back. The local town Trestina has 2 good restaurants - one is in the hotel and the speciality is fillet steak from the local Valdichiana herd. There is a new restaurant just outside Morra, the local village, which serves typical Umbrian food with homemade pasta and Pizzas open evenings.
There are many more restaurants nearby, but we normally visit guests to give advice about where to eat and any festivals or local events that may be of interest.
There is a shopping centre specialising in designer clothes about an hours' drive away - many guests have been delighted to find that the prices are lower than expected.
There is also a good shoe warehouse near Anghiari (about an hours drive)and we suggest a trip there and lunch after at an excellent restaurant nearby which has a set meal of 6 courses for 25 Euros including wine!
