Vast and beautiful. Casa Cares produce a large part of the vegetables and fruit which is served. Besides it produces its own excellent extra virgin olive oil and honey. Both of these are for sale to guests.
Coast/Beach
Let's face it people coming here are most likely to be interested in nature and the historic and artistic wealth so abundant in Tuscany... even so the Florentines are keen on beach leisure time too, so Florence is well connected with the Tirrenean sea and Viareggio in particular is a much sought after beach for day trippers. Allow two hours each way by private transport and haòlf hour more if you have to rely on public transport.
Special interest holidays
Casa Cares staff with its international background is quite used to cater for special interest groups. At the moment there are Italian, English, German. French and Portuguese native speakers. They would be most happy to reply to any specific individual requirement.
Travel
Florence is the nearest airport (40 Kms) but Pisa is also close and convenient in particular for budget flights such as Ryanair. From here, if you don't intend to hire a car, you can reach Florence by coach or train. Casa Cares' nearest train station is Sant'Ellero. Please enquire about shuttle bus if this is required.
Distances
Florence with all its art treasures is only 35 kms away. Allow one hour to reach the centre whether by private or public transport. Siena is less than two hours away by car, but must allow about three hours by public transport. San Gimignano is about one hour and a half by bus or car. Volterra two hours. Lucca can be reached in two hours by car or slightly longer by public transport. To get to Assisi, the birth place of Saint Francis and location of Giotto's fresco cycles, two hours or so.
