Notes on prices
Apart from La Casa sulle Mura, no additional cost is added for central heating in the winter months, this is reflected in the pricing structure above which applies all year round. For La Casa sulle Mura we make a charge for heating by way of monitoring gas consumption which on average amounts to about 20 to 30 Euro per day according to wheather conditions.

Changeover day
The owners prefer to rent the accommodation Saturday to Saturday generally, but are happy for the self catering rooms to be let on a nightly basis (although there is a saving for longer lets) and consider requests for different arrival and departure days.

Podere La Fonte (Sleeps 6, 3 Bedroom)

You can choose to rent as little as one of the three double rooms (with no cooking facilities) and thus experience living in the main farmhouse with your hosts. Although there are no cooking facilities for the 3 rooms your hosts are happy to provide meals for an additional charge. The owners have reserved 3 double rooms for those who wish to have a more economic option. Two of the rooms are next to each other with a shower room reserved for them in this separate wing of the farmhouse and is ideal for friends or family, particularly so as the beds can be set either as double or singles. The third double bedroom has en-suite shower room, however this bedroom only has a double bed. Susino della Fonte (Sleeps 2, 1 Bedroom)

'Il Susino' is a self contained apartment adjoining the farmhouse. It is the ideal accommodation for 2, but can also be rented jointly with Pollaio (see details) for larger groups who like to holiday together and yet enjoy an element of independence. This fully centrally heated unit also has the benefit of a welcoming wood-burning stove within the kitchen/dining room so it is quite a cosy corner if you choose to spend time here in the colder months. The bathroom is fully equipped and you will have the choice of shower and bathtub! The owners have furnished the apartment in simple old Tuscan style, mostly wood. The floor is in handmade tiles and the ceiling in tiles and wood. Outside amidst the splendid views there is a patio with table and chairs reserved for you to rest, admire the landscape or to enjoy al fresco eating. Meals can be supplied by arrangement (see other details).

Noce della Fonte (Sleeps 4, 2 Bedrooms)

This converted barn is very comfortable and is ideal for a quiet holiday in the idyllic countryside with splendid views. This attractive self contained apartment adjoining the farmhouse has two double bedrooms and two bathrooms (one en suite). Apart from the living room, it is possible to enjoy time in the kitchen-dining room as there is a wood burning fire place which is always a centre of attraction particularly if you choose to visit in the colder months. The apartment also has the benefit of central heating, one more reason not to rule out a stay in the autumn or winter when perhaps you can witness or take part in the wine and olive harvests. But if you prefer the warm months, then you will enjoy the respite of cool air offered by the 500 metres high hills and plenty of opportunity to have alfresco eating on either of the two patios reserved for your own use. Casa sulle Mura (Sleeps 5, 3 Bedrooms)

The owners of Podere La Fonte also offer you the possibility to spend your holiday at ‘Casa sulle Mura a spacious 13th century town house built right on the walls of the historic centre of Radicondoli’ (2 minutes walk from La Fonte). Here you will be strategically placed on the edge of the village with stunning views at all three levels. On the ground floor you enter a large authentic Tuscan kitchen-dining room with a remarkable log fire fit to see through the hardest of winter in full comfort. Through a separate dining room, you gain access to a delightful small terrace. Here you can choose whether to eat al fresco or simply enjoy the view and a drink. Stone steps lead you to the sleeping quarters. Right at the top you find a grand master bedroom with a double bed and en suite shower room and ample space to relax and have some time off the other members of the party. There is a second double bedroom, also with shower room en suite, and a single bedroom, on the middle floor

Notes on accommodation
All accommodation is centrally heated and has the benefit of supplementary wood burning fire/stove. Children are welcome even if renting Casa sulle Mura as they will have plenty of interest on the farm and have playing corner for them. Older guests are also welcome, but the town house is not suitable on account of the many stairs.

Accessibility
We regret but our accommodation is not suitable for guests with severe mobility problems necessitating use of wheelchairs.

Outside
Come and enjoy a taste of authentic Tuscan country life in stunning settings, amidst olive groves and vineyards tendered by a most hospitable family who run this organic farm. Podere La Fonte is ancient and stone built, situated in a most spectacular position just below the medieval village of Radicondoli. It has magnificent uninterrupted views over the Cecina valley and the surrounding hills. At night you can see the lights of Volterra, San Gimignano, Colle Val D'Elsa and many other villages nestling in the hills all around you. Florence is one hour away and Siena, Volterra and San Gimignano just 40 minutes by road. A short walk away is the village of Radicondoli. A perfectly preserved historic village with good restaurants, pizzerias and bars. There are shops selling local produce, a bakery for fresh bread each morning. Your hosts are waiting with oil, wine and a warm welcome.

Coast/Beach
We are only at 1 hour's drive from the Tuscan coast. Here you can have a beach holiday with all the trappings or choose to have a day trip to Isola d'Elba or one of the many other coastal attractions.

Travel
The nearest airports are Pisa (Ryanair and British Airways) and Florence (Meridiana and British Airways). Although there is a coach service to and from the village two or three times a day, car is recommended for easy reach amenities and surrounding towns.

Distances
Radicondoli and nearby Belforte are medieval castles resembling districts of nearby Siena (40km). Florence is some 80km away and takes about one hour by car, Sangimignano is nearer but also takes some 50 mins by car as does Volterra and Massa Marittima (which is conveniently on route to the seaside).

Further details
The village though small, has all amenities, there is a bank, post office, 3 restaurants with bar, 3 food stores, a pharmacy, a clothes shop and a news agent and general store. The nearest large town is Cole Val d'Elsa which is only 25 minutes drive and has a large open market on Friday morning plus a number of supermarkets and usual shops.

Our Experience of Podere La Fonte: We spent three weeks at Podere La Fonte in May 2007 as our honeymoon and loved it so much that we wanted to share our experience with anyone else considering a visit to Tuscany.Our holiday started on a high note from the moment we started to ascend into the hills which dominate this part of Tuscany. The scenery is breathtaking (it’s hard to keep your eyes on the road!) and you soon realise that the views which unravel before you are going to live with you for ever.Then we arrived at Podere la Fonte and it became clear that the same stunning views which impressed so much were going to be the backdrop for our holiday. Radicondoli itself, in common with most of the local towns and villages, is right on the top of the hill. Podere la Fonte is about 100m outside Radicondoli with the same commanding view across unspoilt landscape.
