The villa is very well situated with easy acess to the surrounding coastal and hilltop towns. Within a 10 min drive is Locorotondo, a hilltop town of remarkable circular design with whitewashed houses and a large ‘cantina’ selling excellent local wine, historic Alberobello a UNESCO heritage site and a unique and fascinating place to explore its thousands of trulli. Within 25 mins is Martina Franca an elegant baroque town, Cisternino famous for its gastronomy, and hilltop Ostuni known as the ‘White City’ as it glows day and night. Nearby is Castellana Grotte famed as the most spectacular limestone caves in Italy, the archaeological ruins of Egnazia, and a Zoo Safari Park, ideal family fun. The village bar/restaurants serving local specialities is just 5 mins drive and 15 mins gets you to Savelletri, a small fishing village with an abundance of beachside restaurants. You may just want to chill out on the terrace with a BBQ and glass of wine watching the sun set over the valley.

Changeover day
Changeover days in the mid and high season are Saturdays with departures by 11am and arrivals after 3pm. If there are gaps, we can be flexible on this - please do ask.

Bathroom and swimming pool towels are provided and all bed linen. Towels and linen are changed once a week. |
Notes on accommodation
The property has shutters inside and outside which means that at night with only the outside shutter closed you get a nice cool mountain breeze off the hillside. There are radiators in all the rooms for the cooler months.

Accessibility
Due to the number of steps leading up to the villa this property is not suitable for wheelchair access or elderly people.
Outside
Outside is a very large sun terrace, accessed from the trullo kitchen or down some steps from the living area, furnished with BBQ, table, 6 chairs and umbrella with a large olive tree providing shade from the mid day sun. Down further steps to the lower level where a 10m x 5m swimming pool (1.26m deep) with surrounding patio and adjoining covered gazebo with table and chairs, provides the perfect area for family fun. There is ample space for children play area and car parking for 2 cars. The garden is totally enclosed by a brick wall and has an abundance of fruit trees including figs, lemons, apricots, mulberry and cactus fruit which our guests are welcome to share.
Coast/Beach
With over 400 miles of coastline, Puglia has a huge selection of sandy beaches/coves (all of which have blue flag status) and there are plenty of activities for the water sports enthusiasts. A 15 minute drive from the villa and you will find you an array of small sandy beaches and coves - Savelletri, Torre Cane, Capitolo.
Golf
If it is golfing you are looking for then Puglia has five major courses to offer. The 5* San Domenica Golf resort and spa near the fishing village of Savelettri, is the closest at only a 10-15 minute drive.
Travel
40 minutes from Bari Airport, 35 minutes from Brindisi Airport. RyanAir fly from Stansted to Brindisi and Bari, British Airways fly from Gatwick to Bari, and Al Italia fly into Brindisi via main Italian airports. Blu-Express offer cheap flights from Rome to Bari. Car hire is essential.
Distances
Within 10/15 minutes -Alberobello, Locorotondo, Fasano/Zoo Safari, beaches. Within 15/25 minutes- Martina Franca, Ostuni, Polignano al Mare, Castellana Grotte. Further afield- Matera, a town home to 13th century cave dwelling -'sassi' - used in the film 'The Passion', many with original cave wall frescoes, is one hour and a half and Lecce, famous for its unique architecture and Lecce, famous for its unique architecture and known as the 'Florence of the South' is an easy hour.
Further details
There is no limit to the amount of activities you can do in the region whether you prefer soaking up the sun, shopping, sightseeing or something more active. Beautiful architecture, ancient castles and Baroque churches can be found in all the local towns and eating is an activity in itself as the region is a food and wine lovers paradise - no matter how hard you try it is difficult to eat badly. With over 400 miles of coastline, Puglia has a huge selection of sandy beaches/coves (all of which have blue flag status) and there are plenty of activities for the water sports enthusiasts.
Puglia gets close to 300 days sunshine a year with the warm weather starting in April and going right through until the end of October. The hottest months are July and August but with two seas around the area the air does not feel too oppressive during these months, especially as the property is located on a hillside. Spring and autumn is glorious- sunny and warm with wild flowers in abundance. Italians are unashamedly devoted to celebrating everything Italian - religion, food, love... And they show it with festivals, there's almost one a week in the summer, celebrating everything from classical music to grapes. These family orientated events provide great free outdoor entertainment and gives you an insight into the wonderful hospitable Pugliese people. A non refundable 30% deposit by cheque or bank transfer is required to confirm your booking with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to booking date. We will forward you an outstanding balance nearer the time, of your final payment.
