La Cesa is a sympathetically restored 14th century tower house set amongst 12 acres of woodland, garden and olive groves at the end of a long cypress lined avenue. Carefully divided into 3 generous self-contained apartments each with their own sitting rooms and private terraces, La Cesa can be let individually or as a whole. The 15 x 7m swimming pool is set in the terraced garden above the house with stunning views across the valley to Etruscan Cortona. Shady areas have been created around the pool and house with wisteria-covered pergolas offering areas for eating and relaxing outside. La Cesa's kitchen garden provides guests with fresh vegetables and herbs for the barbecue and the opportunity of eating fruit straight from the tree. Cortona is under 10 mins and Florence, Siena, Rome, Perugia, Assisi and San Gimigniano are each an easy day trip. Transimeno, the 4th largest lake in Italy, is only 10 mins away with ferries to the islands and child-friendly beaches.

During the high season lets are from Saturday to Saturday with arrival time after 16.00 and departure time before 10.00.
At other times of the year the situation can be more flexible.

Onoria (3 Bedrooms, Sleeps 6)

| Originally the ox stalls, Onoria has been transformed into spacious living accommodation, all on the ground floor. On entering there is a large sitting room with open fireplace and large squashy sofas, satellite TV and DVD. A beautiful wide arch divides the sitting-room from the kitchen with fridge, gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine and a really good selection of cooking equipment as well as good quality crockery and cutlery. From the kitchen a door leads to a generous double bedroom and bathroom. From the sitting room, 3 steps lead up to the other double bedroom and twin-bedded room each with en-suite shower, bidet, toilet and heated towel rail. These 2 rooms both have French windows leading directly onto the garden. Outside there is a wisteria covered pergola with loungers as well as a parasol covered table, seating, and barbecue. The pool is a short walk away through the garden. Onoria is particularly suitable for families with small children. | |

| La Stufa has been carefully restructured to create a spacious apartment in the old tower. The entrance leads directly into the kitchen which includes fridge, gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine and a really good selection of cooking equipment as well as good quality crockery and cutlery. Through an arch on the left is the dining room with table and seating for 8. Through the second arch is the sitting room with satellite TV and DVD. Next to the sitting room is the master double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and access through French windows to a private walled courtyard. The first twin-bedroom with en suite bathroom is on the first floor, then up again to another beautiful twin-bedded room with en-suite bath and shower. Outside there is a paved terrace with enormous sun blind under which is a table, seating and barbecue. From the terrace there are steps directly to the swimming pool. | |
Notes on accommodation
La Cesa's thick walls and high airy rooms help keep the interior cool during the summer months and all rooms have central heating for cooler periods.
Beds have been chosen for quality and comfort with sprung mattresses on sprung slat bases and pure linen/cotton mix for the bed linen. Blankets are provided for mid-season and down-duvets for the winter months. Cots are available for small guests.
The kitchens are spacious and easy to use. The owners are keen cooks and so the equipment is good quality and generous. If the whole house is booked and guests wish to eat together, we have extra outside tables, crockery, cutlery, serving dishes, pots and pans.
Accessibility
Onoria is suitable for guests with minor mobility problems and can be used by wheelchiar users with a little help from the members of their group.
Outside
La Cesa's gardens extend over nearly two acres and have been designed using a variety of plants selected for their perfumed flowers or scented leaves. There are defined private areas for each apartment. On the lowest of the olive terraces, there is a large games area, big enough for five-a-side football,with a ping pong table and badminton net. There is an area away from the house which provides shaded parking during the heat of the summer. The inifinity pool measures 15m x 7m and is surrounded by a large terraced area, partially shaded with wisteria and rose covered pergolas and with large parasols. The pool terrrace is furnished with a good supply of comfortable sun loungers as well as low cushioned chairs with tables. All guests are provided with swimming towels and there are fun floats and toys for the pool.
Travel
Rome and Pisa airports are almost equidistant, although getting onto the motorway from Pisa Airport is easier. They are about 2 hours away by car. There are also good flights to Florence just over 1 hour away and Perugia offers some flights, 40 minutes away. The local station is 10 minutes drive from the house with regular services to Florence and Rome. There are several local taxis but they do need to be booked.
Distances
Our village, Pergo, is about 1km away and we are under 10 minutes by car, from Cortona. Both Florence and Rome are easily reached by train (to be recommended) for day trips. Siena, Arezzo, Gubbio, Montepulciano are best reached by car but are all less than an hour from the house.
Further details
In the village we have a wonderful little supermarket where you can buy all you could possibly need. It is a 10 minute walk or 2 minutes by car. There is also a place for hiring bikes by the day or week.
The house is particularly well placed for those who like to visit museums, galleries and both medieval and renaissance architecture. Rome, Florence, Siena, Gubbio, Pienza, Montipulciano, Orvieto and Viterbo are all within easy reach for a day visit. If you need help in deciding what to do, our on-site manager can help - she is an art historian!
