The Lodge House, is a self contained 2 bedroom single level lodge set on the outskirts of the sleepy village of Roppolo and sits under the shadow of a 9th Century castle housing the regions best wines. It is surrounded by woodland which runs the length of the Serra, and on a clear day there is a fabulous view of the Alpine range. Turin and Milan or the great Italian Lakes are all within easy travelling distance or the peace and tranquility of the mountains with their awe inspiring views. There is a plethora of things to do here, cycling is very popular, walking, all water sports, horse riding, motorcycling anything associated with the mountains. You name it its here. The Lodge is only a few minutes drive away from "Lago di Viverone" a beautiful lake with opportunities for every kind of water sport including swimming, fishing, sailing, water skiing, wake boarding and canoeing. There are many swimming pools, bars and restaurants on its perimeter and in nearby villages.

Changeover day
As this is our first year changeover day is flexible. Easyjet and Ryanair both offer cheap flights into Turin and Milan airports the cheapest flight are usually to be found on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

The Lodge has 2 bedrooms and a sofa bed. Bedroom number 1 has a double bed and the second bedroom has twin beds. The sofa bed is in the living area. |

The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering, including an electric oven, gas hob, fridge (with small freezer compartment), microwave and washing machine with iron and board. |

In the living area you will find 2 sofas 1 doubling as a sofa bed, with a television and DVD player (DVDs can be borrowed from the main house). There is a dining table which seats 6 comfortably. |

Baby facilities are available at no extra cost, cot, highchair, sterilizer and baby monitors etc. Our 14 year old daughter is available for evening babysitting, providing the child/children are put to bed, (and obviously for a fee!). |

Towels and linen are included. As is a hairdryer. "The Lodge" is cleaned ready for your arrival. Additional cleaning can be arranged, at extra cost. |
Notes on accommodation
Gas central heating to all rooms.
Unfortunately no pets as we have plenty on site, dogs, cats, horses and chickens.
Children are very welcome. We have 3 of our own ranging from 2 to 14.
"The Lodge" is as it suggest in the grounds of our own home it is self contained very private and in a beautifully quiet and secluded location.

Accessibility
Unfortunately the property is not suitable for wheelchairs as there are a number of steps into the property.
Outside
The lodge is accessed via some steps up to a deck which runs the length of the lodge, where you will find outside dining facilities a barbecue and sun loungers. There is also a parking space directly next to the lodge. Fresh produce is grown on the farm (organically) and is available for you to buy.
Coast/Beach
The Ligurian coast is within 2 hours drive form The Lodge.
Golf
The Golf Club 'Le Betulle' in Magnano Biellese is set in charming countryside along the slopes of the Serra moraine 8 miles and 15 mins drive from The Lodge. The course is 18 holes, par 73 measuring 6497 metres. Designed by the famous English architect, John Morrison, is it considered a very demanding course technically, where golfers from all over the world have participated in famous tournaments. For beginners and for training the golf Club le Betulle has two instructors at its disposal both PGA, a practice course and two putting greens. The Golf Club at Cavaglia is 3km/5 mins drive from The Lodge, it is a 9 hole Championship length golf course, par 73 (6.466 meters) and 6 executive holes, par 19 (800 meters), are suitable for all game levels. For those who want to practice there is a well equipped driving range, large practice putting green and pitching green available.
Skiing
Surrounded on three sides by the Swiss Alps, the Piemonte region offers some excellent skiing opportunities. The best of these, and conveniently the closet to Roppolo are Aosta and Gressoney Saint Jean. Aosta is little more than an hour away and caters for all levels of skier ability, from beginner to expert, as well as snowboarding. Gressoney Saint Jean and Gressoney-La-Trinitè is one of the most prestigious ski resorts in the Italian Alps, with modern ski lefts and well prepared slopes. There are several medium-to-easy cross country skiing routes across the resort which can be skied to from a single 25km ring. Higher up the mountain there is the 5km Gabiet and St. Anna rings that can be reached via ski-lift. The Monterosa Ski is one of the largest and most enjoyable skiing areas in the Alps taking in the slopes of Monte Rosa, Ayas, Gressoney, Alagna and Val Sesia valleys. It includes 42 lifts, 180km (112 miles) of prepared pistes, and 40km of pistes prepared with artificial snow.
Special interest holidays
We also offer motorcycle tours of the region. A mixture of road or trail based tours are available. The tours are tailored to meet your needs. The bikes are Yamaha XT600E's which we feel offer a good compromise for agility, comfort and reliability, low seat height making them very manageable for all levels of ability.
You can ride in the fantastic Italian Alps, which is where the roads are at their best, exploring the narrow winding roads, smooth hairpin bends of which there are too many to count, and picturesque Italian villages.
The trails are plentiful ranging from easy going woodland tracks to smooth and rocky fire roads.
Each tour is catered for the individual covering 100 to 300km per day depending on the route.
These tours are not for speed merchants. They are for those who want to experience part of this beautiful country on a bike in an area largely left undisturbed by tourism.
Please note that a full motorcycle license must have been held for min 2 years.

Turin Airport is 40 mins drive.
Milan Malpenza within an hour.
Milan Linate just over an hour.
Milan Bergamo at least an hour and a half.
Car hire is not essential but it is recommended. We do offer transfers at an additional cost.

Lago di Viverone a 3 minute drive.
Ivrea (Our local town - home to the orange carnival) 20 minutes drive.
Biella (outlet heaven!) 30 minutes drive.
Turin (sightseeing/shopping/culture) 40 minutes drive.
Milan (sightseeing/shopping/culture) 1 hour's drive.
Gressoney (skiing) 1 hours drive.
Genoa (sea side) 2 hours drive.
Further details
Roppolo itself has a small shop and a bakers, a post office and a hairdressers, there is one restaurant actually in the village, one at the top of our road, one on the other side of the village and one set in a beautiful location 5 minutes drive away in the middle of the woods overlooking a lake, sadly dried up but where you can often see wild boar playing. Viverone has 2 banks, bakers, a small supermarket and many restaurants. Our nearest hypermarket (Carrefour) is 15 minutes drive away at Burolo.
We are able to offer local Piedmontese cuisine delivered to your door for 15 euros a head including a 1/2 litre of wine. (This service is not always available, if you are interested please contact us before arrival).

Initial deposit of 25% must be made to confirm the booking.
Full payment 6 weeks prior to arrival.
A deposit of £50 is required which will be refunded after inspection of the property.
