In the 16th century the "Gabella" building was a Custom House. In 2002 the stone building was totally restored using high quality materials. The building now consists of 10 units. Our apartment is the most peculiar one because it is built on 3 levels with stone stairs connecting the entrance on the ground floor, the master bedroom on the first floor and the living room, a kitchenette and a bathroom on the top floor. The 'Gabella House' is privately connected to the lake promenade. Everything is at walking distance: the lake is 50 metres away, climbing walls, sailing club, restaurants, pizzeria, bars, shops, a little railway station, beaches, playground for children and tennis courts. Nevertheless, it is in a peaceful and quiet place. It is the ideal location for people who love the lake activities and want to spend a relaxing holiday in a small, typical Italian village.

Changeover day
In high season arrivals are only possible on Saturdays after 3pm and departures before 10am. In medium and low season arrival days and times are flexible, depending on availability.
Late arrivals after 8pm must be checked with the office beforehand.

Further details
In the Golfo Gabella resort you can find a design restaurant and a wine bar that also sells regional products (cheeses, cold cuts, regional wines, etc). At walking distance there are several pizzeria and restaurants. In the village you can find supermarket, bank, post office, pharmacy, bus stop, train station, harbor, modern art museum. All these places can by reached by foot. The boat service is available only during the summer (for the rest of the year the nearest harbour is in Luino) and it connects Maccagno with Luino, the villages on the other side of the lake (Cannero, Cannobio), Swiss cities (Ascona, Locarno) and Isole Borromee.
