It is ideal for most any kind of getaway: a peaceful retreat or an activity-filled return to nature for thrill-seekers and sun-worshippers alike. Chiocciola is ideal for lovers of Italian history, art, gastronomy, hiking and the outdoors. You know, 'la dolce vita.' Available for short stays or weekly bookings.

For bookings of 3-5 persons, there is an additional charge of £80 per week. Special rates for weekend or short-term stays available. Outside
Garden with stunning views of national park and distant hilltop villages. A private stone patio and outdoor furniture that includes hammocks, outside table, chairs, lounge chairs -- the perfect setting for dining al fresco. Nearby are numerous trails for trekkers, hikers and mountain bikers. There is a large wood-burning outdoor pizza oven that cooks up the best pizza in Central Italy!
Coast/Beach
The Adriatic coast is under an hour away with beaches of all kinds: broad sandy beaches and exotic coves.
Skiing
Nearby village of Sarnano (10 min drive) has a modest ski report with a half-dozen runs. More ski resorts in national park at Visso (1 hr) and Gran Sasso (90 mins).
Special interest holidays
National park has hiking, trekking, para-gliding, cycling, mountain biking, skiing, and sparkling mountain lakes for swimming.
Travel
Nearest airports are Ancona (70-80 mins), Perugia (70-80 mins) and Pescara (90 mins), all served by Ryanair. Ancona is a major ferry port to Greece, Croatia. For this area, car hire is necessary.
Distances
Nearest villages are Amandola and Sarnano, both 8 kms. Umbria towns of Assisi, Spoleto, Montefalco, Todi, Perugia are just over an hour's drive. Rome is 200 kms, Florence 175 kms. Bologna is 2 hr by train; Venice 4 hrs by train.
Further details
Amandola and Sarnano have all major shopping amenities. (Sarnano's open market is Thurs; Amandola's Wed.) Fantastic restaurants abound. Marchigiani cuisine is among the tops in Italy -- think decadent fish meals by the sea and sumptuous comfort food inland. There are over a dozen Slow Food- and Gambero Rosso-recognised restaurants in the area, attracting gourmands from across Italy and beyond. Le Marche is also the shoe capital of Italy, including home of the Tod's factory outlet(Casette D'ete).
Booking notes
Payment included in sterling or euros. 25% deposit required in advance. The remainder is to be paid into the owner's bank account 14 days prior to arrival date. Weekends and short-week bookings available for March, April, May, September, October, November.
