Saturday is the preferred change-over day though some flexibility is available in the low season.

Notes on accommodation
As well as the delightful, secluded patio and generous gardens, there is a large roof terrace offering privacy and lovely views of the sea and surrounding area.
The garden area is gated and walled to prevent children straying and there is secure, off-road parking for two or three vehicles.
Outside
There is a large covered patio with barbecue,sun loungers,table and chairs, enjoying views to the sea. The gardens offer a great deal of privacy and are planted with palms, cacti, bougainvillea and honeysuckle. A tiled outdoor shower enables cool refreshment on hot days and somewhere to remove the sand you have brought home!
Coast/Beach
There are two pretty beaches within a few minutes drive from the house as well as a bar (walking distance) and local stores. There are several good restaurants also within a few minutes drive offering a good range of local food and wine. Three of these offer waterside dining. Parking can be a real problem both for visitors and residents alike in Ortigia, but there is a local passenger ferry close to Casablanca which crosses the Grand Harbour to the town every hour in the summer season.
Travel
Casablanca is a pleasant 45 minutes drive from Catania Airport. Whilst a bus service does run through Capo Murro di Porco, car hire is recommended both for convenience and for enjoying the wealth of historical and archaeological sites that this area has to offer. It is available either at the airport, in Syracuse or in Ortigia.

If you require additional accommodation, please contact the owner for details of our other villas close-by (ref IT521 and IT940). There is a general store/bar/pizzeria within walking distance of the villa where fresh bread, milk and most other basic requirements are available. There is another larger general store 3 minutes drive away. There are numerous good restaurants close by, at least 3 of which are on the waterfront, where one can dine with wine from as little as 15 euros per person! Details and directions for our favourite beaches and restaurants are provided for guests prior to arrival.
Booking notes
If the dates that you seek are unavailable, please contact the owner as we have other similar properties very close by. These may be booked together for larger groups. A deposit of £200 per week will secure your booking with the balance due 6 weeks prior to arrival. A further returnable deposit of £200 is required with each booking against breakages and excess cleaning charges.

About the owner
I live in Cornwall, England and first visited Siracusa in January 2003. I had initially intended buying in Ortigia and so that was my first taste of Sicily. I fell in love with the area but quickly realised that I wanted a bit of space, privacy and somewhere private to sit outside. All of these things are very rare in Ortigia and so I began looking just along the coast. I have been in Plemmirio now for almost eight years and still love it. I had not planned to let my house but was persuaded to do so by friends there and have done so now for seven years. Indeed it became so popular that at one time, I had three houses in the area. However I began to feel that what was intended as a holiday retreat had turned into a business and so now I have only the original villa. Small but charming.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
The area enjoys lots of lovely restaurants, historic sites and beautiful coastline. Designated as a Regional Park, the immediate waters are protected and provide wonderful bathing. The food is deliciously fresh, varied and reflects the many cultures that have ruled this island through the ages. The daily market in Ortigia offers some of the finest fruit, vegetables, fish and seafood that I have ever enjoyed. If you like to cook, you will be delighted by the food that is available and if you don't, well there's no shortage of fine restaurants of every description.

Although just a few minutes from town, the villa affords privacy, seclusion and a lovely view of the sea, with private garden, covered patio and a roof terrace. There are beautiful sandy beaches within a few minute's drive and swimming from the rocks nearby is an easy walk away.
