‘Trullo Tranquillo’ is located 4km along and 600m off the main road between the striking towns of Ostuni and Cisternino among beautiful rural rolling hills. The trullo has 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a living area under the 3 cones. Under the largest cone there is a lounge area with a TV/DVD, a smaller cone with a fireplace and wood stove and a dining area under the third. Much of your dining will be outdoors and so the kitchen adjoins the house but has a separate entrance which opens up onto a shaded terrace where you can eat al fresco close to the BBQ and pizza oven. There are 6000 sq.m. of land surrounding the house where you can feel free to stroll or eat the fruit growing there when in season. You are ideally situated to explore the famous Trulli capital of Alberobello and take in the Limestone caves of Castellana nearby. You are also near some great coastal town such as Monopoli and Polignano a Mare and the extensive beaches of the region.

Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is a beautiful 15 minute drive. This is the best family beach in the area, with water sports, fabulous beach restaurant, bar, sunbeds etc. The Puglian coastline offers some 500 miles of white sandy beaches. Whilst the local beach is our family favourite, there are beaches for every taste from tiny rugged coves to beautiful white sandy nature reserves.
Golf
Puglia is a great golfing escape in winter and summer, with four excellent courses which are perfect for a 1 or 2 week playing break. Villa Marianna is conveniently placed for all. Excellent 5 star luxury Golf resort and spa near the fishing village of Savelletri near Fasano, which is midway between Bari and Brindisi. San Domenico golf course is approx 30 minutes away from the Villa/Trullo.
Travel
The area is well served by flights from the UK. Brindisi is 25 minutes away and Bari an hour from the trullo. Ryanair flies from Stansted to both of these airports. British Airways and Alitalia fly from Heathrow to Bari. Alitalia also fly to Brindisi. Flights exist to Pescara, Napoli and to Rome involving a 4 hour car journey, but taking in many beautiful sites on the way to Ostuni. Make the journey to the house a part of your holiday e.g. the beautiful Amalfi coast or the Gargano.

Further details
The towns and cities are a delight and a great source of local pride. Ostuni and Cisternino are exceptional for their medieval architecture and great views to the sea and across the Valle d’Itria. There is also the baroque spendour of Martina Franca with its cathedral of St Martin and its Opera Festival running from 21 July - 11 August each year.
There are many beach resorts within a short drive, which are well equipped for small children seen from the S.S 379 called often Tourist Villages. The town of Fasano is not particularly interesting except that it has a great safari park and mini Alton Towers, a bit dated but great for the little ones.
Ostuni will provide you with the perfect opportunity to relax in its many cafes restaurants in the old city, some of which are built into the hillside as caves. There is a huge market on Saturday where you can buy almost anything but especially great for fresh fruit and veg and incredible local cheeses, olives and cured hams – you will not go hungry. This region has one of the greatest cuisine in Italy and that is quite a boast. You must try the antipasti, which are a selection (more like a meze in reality) of famous local specialities.
The nearest village is called Casalini and boasts a great eatery which doubles as the village butchers (Maccelleria). All the dishes are local and predominantly meat of course all roasted almost before you eyes and delicious, washed down of course with the local vino della casa - house wine. This village is to the left as you come out of the private road to the house in the direction of the town of Cisternino.
Cisternino is a smaller version of Ostuni and even more low key and relaxing and is 10 minutes away form the house. It has been described as the most beautiful small town in Italy. The town square looks like the set for a production of any Rossini comic opera.
