Charming 400 year old cottage in the historic village of Lago. Nestled in the foothills with the snow capped Dolomites to the north and Venice to the south. Lago is built around one of two lakes with a view from the balcony. The house is a listed building much prized by locals and is an end of terrace on the edge of the village. Climbing in to the hills locally offers fantastic views of the mountains in one direction and the plains to Venice in the other. A romantic and lovely place for sightseeing (Venice, Palladian Villas, Asolo, Verona-Opera), walking, hiking, cycling and sailing (Dolomites and Lakes). Sample the excellent regional food at one of the many restaurants or trattoria's scattered across the hills and wash it down with a chilled local Prosecco from Valdobbiadene. Lovely!

Notes on accommodation
The house sleeps 2/3 people and has a balcony that overlooks the lake. On the ground floor there is a kitchen, bathroom and dining room with wood burning stove. The first floor has a small twin bedroom and a living room both with doors onto the balcony. The second bedroom with large double bed and dressing area is in the loft. It is nicely furnished, equipped with sheets, towels etc and made up for your arrival. There is a hairdryer, iron, washing machine and stereo system so please bring your favourite music. The cottage is on the edge of the village and the road can get quite busy with passing traffic, because of this it is not suitable for young children.

Coast/Beach
There are good safe beaches 1 hour drive away at Caorle, Ericlea and Jesolo with excellent fish restaurants.
Travel
Car hire is highly recommended. This area is well served by budget airlines that fly into Treviso or Venice. Lago is 40 min drive from either. Ryanair fly to Treviso and Easyjet to Venice. Car hire is available at both. Venice is 45 mins away by Autostrada, but the train service from Conegliano is frequent, cheap and deposits you straight onto the Grand Canal. Verona is 2 hours and Cortina 1.5 hours. Parking for the car is a 1 min walk away next to the church in the village.

Further details
The village has a butcher, baker, delicatessen, 2 bars and a small grocery shop. There is a nature trail around both lakes with several small grassed beaches and sitting areas with communal barbecues. The Pizzeria by the lake is very good and open most days during the summer. You can also swim in the lake (it’s tested for purity every year) and there are pedal boats and sailing boats to hire.
