Villa di Luna is a charming rustic villa in the mountains of Monteradicchio on the Emilia, Tuscany border, making it ideal for visiting Tuscany or Emilia Romagna. You will literally have an entire mountain to yourself. Very charming authentic 16th century villa bursting with wildflowers, flowering cherry, pine and colorful foliage. Bellisma vistas of Vergato, Tuscany hills, Pioppe di Salvaro and the Reno River. Windows offer fresh air, stunning views and natural light. On the property there is a charming antique 3 storey farmhouse/church. It is common for wild deer and fawn to prance through property. Beautiful hikes offer colorful rolling hills, waterfalls and cityscapes. Views of the moon and stars at night are unparalleled. Villa beautifully restored. Climate is perfect: warm sunny days, but never too hot. Villa is ideal for those who want to experience an authentic glimpse of rural Italy in one of the last corners of Tuscany still untainted by tourism. Bellissimo Posto!

You must drive slowly for the final 10 minutes to this property, as there is only a gravel road. This is a glorious drive!

Outside
20 hectares/50 acres of private land. Beautiful flowering trees abound, deer roam freely throughout. Lovely walks on the private property, and the house is magical looking from the outside. As earlier stated, this is a natural garden of paradise. This is our home and we live there half of the year; so it is more tenderly loved and cared for than a typical rental property. We also have close friends/neighbors who lend a loving hand to help visitors get warmly situated, and acquainted with the area.

Villa di Luna is 1 hour from the Bologna airport. You will need to rent a car.

Distances
10 mins to village shops and a train station and within easy reach of Pisa, Barga, Lucca, Florence and Bologna (all 1hr or less), the quiet spa town of Porretta Terme (20 mins) and 25kms from Pistoia. Fabulous restauarnt in Maresca just 20 minutes away.

Further details
Emilia Romagna, is Italy's finest culinary region, home of balsamic vinegar, parmesan cheese and parma ham and Tuscany is renowned for its fantastic wine. Maresca, 20 mins away, has a top-class restaurant listed in Italian best-food guides, which serves seasonal, delicious and very reasonable local food and wine. Carmignano, less than 30 mins from the house, is known for wines that marry Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Cabernet grapes (as well as local olive oil and grappa) and wine tasting are available in lots of local vineyards. Excellent wine can also be found in all local Enoteche (specialist wine bars). Because of the area's superb culinary traditions, there are a profusion of food festivals (sagre) all year round, ranging from chestnut sagre to the famous white truffle sagre, held in Marradi, about 1hr from the house, in Autumn. In the summer local sagre in near-by villages include polenta, wild boar, venison and ravioli.
The area is home to many music festivals in the summer, including Italy's best blues and jazz festivals. Pistoia holds the world famous Pistoia Blues festival every July, as well as the Giostra dell Orto, a jousting medieval processing also held in the Summer. Porretta holds the Porretta Jazz festivals each summer, with past guests including the likes of Buddy Guy. Many local towns also throw medieval parties in the summer - joisting, parades, processions - and Prato has an annual national Comic Book Conference in the spring and Prato Estate (July/August) is a living arts festival including open-air theatre, concerts and films held each year. Nearby San Miniato is home to antique and craft festivals on the third and first Sundays of every month. An antique market, often including a stall selling only fascist memorabilia to the strains of military music, as well as antiques and paintings, is held every Sunday in Pracchia's town square (15-minute drive). A perfect place for families, children, artists, writers and culture connoisseurs.

This is a little note of thanks for our stay in your wonderful house.I doubt if our words can really explain the delight and joy of being there. The beauty of the place is so much contained in solitude, silence and space that an appreciation of the landscape is hardly going to capture the reality. The sheer delight of the house and its position are without parallel.Actually it is of course the spirit of the place that is so wonderful;it needs the reflection of art-whether it is your music or a beautiful summer picnic, or the sublime emptiness that is filled with the landscape–that offers a real appreciation. Most holiday places promise quiet and repose. By comparison their words are quite empty! The house itself is so welcoming–it feels lived in, loved, and appreciated as a place in its place. To see a cello, to sense the amount of music in there was lovely. We spent days just spending days, with hardly any inclination to venture to the cities. We hope to come back again- David &Alex Imber.
