The location of our house is perfect. The village of Gioviano is just a 2km drive from the main road, with easy access to Barga, Bagni di Lucca, Lucca, Pisa, Florence and beyond. Yet once you are tucked away in the peaceful location of the village and in particular the house and garden, you feel like you are miles away from it all. The views of the distant mountains are spectacular, and it is not uncommon to see deer and eagles nearby. There are many beautiful walks right on our doorstep. The house is spacious, cool and light, with a contemporary feel.

Notes on accommodation
The accommodation is suitable for reasonably fit elderly people and children. It is probably not suitable for toddlers as the staircase is quite steep. This is a non-smoking property.

Accessibility
The house is situated a 3 min walk from the car park. Unfortunately it is not suitable for wheelchair users.
Outside
There is a balcony and lawned garden/terrace with garden furniture.
Coast/Beach
The beaches of Fortei Dei Marmi and Viareggio are just 45 mins away, whilst the picturesque villages of Porto Venere and Lerici lie just to the North in Liguria. From Lerici there is a boat service to the Cinque Terre.
Travel
Gioviano is 50 - 60 mins from Pisa airport.

Further details
The village has its own local shop just a couple of minutes walk from the house, selling fresh bread every morning and basic food, drink and household supplies. There is a restaurant at the foot of the hill, serving fantastic pizzas from it's wood oven plus traditional italian fare. Just 2km from the house is Calavorno which boasts a bakery, friendly bar, trattoria, chemist, tobacconist, butcher, grocer, greengrocer etc. Large supermarkets can be found in Gallicano, Bagni di Lucca and Borgo a Mozzano. There are 3 local swimming pools (outdoors in summer): Bagni di Lucca, Barga and Gallicano. The nearest train station is in Ghivizzano, where you can access Lucca, Pisa, Florence and beyond. There is free parking at the station and train travel is very reasonably priced! The historic town of Barga is 10km away, boasting a jazz club, jazz festival and opera, plus many fantastic restaurants and bars. There are also several art galleries and small antique shops to browse through in the old town. We have provided an information pack in the house giving details of favourite restaurants and things to do or see in the area. Most local restaurants offer excellent quality and great value for money, especially at lunchtimes. Horse riding and mountain biking can also be found in the local area and the opportunities for walking / trekking are endless.
Every July there is a series of fantastic (and very reasonably priced) outdoor concerts in Lucca, this year they have just announced: Elton John 10/7, Norah Jones 14/07, George Michael 19/07, Joss Stone 20/07 and Steely Dan 28/07. They will probably announce a few more in the coming weeks.
