The historic home of the Pieroni family, famous in Boston for their restaurant empire during the 'Great Gatsby' era, has been restored with great care. The beach at Viareggio is a short drive as is the famous cave network, Grotta del Vento. Medieval Barga is renowned for art and antique shopping, regional cuisine and jazz. Historic Lucca lies 30 minutes away, and provides luxury brand shopping. The birthplace of Puccini, Lucca is a focal point for opera lovers and has an opera season every June. Every July and August the Puccini festival takes place in Torre del Lago, just 10 minutes away from Lucca.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday. The key of the property is handed over between 4pm and 7pm on the day of arrival and must be handed back between 8am and 10am on the day of departure. During low season the changeover day can be flexible.

Outside
The private swimming pool has a salt-water system rather than chlorine. Around the pool there are toys for children, a table tennis table, several deck chairs, sun lounges and parasols. Near the 'terrazza' we also have a barbecue, tables, chairs and parasols for dining 'alfresco' while admiring the sweeping views over the Serchio Valley.
Coast/Beach
The beautiful beach of Viareggio is a short drive (40 minutes by car). During carnival time there is a very famous parade that takes place in the main road along the sea.
Golf
The nearest golf course is in Montecatini (about one hour away by car).
Skiing
The ski resort of the Abetone is about 45 minutes away from the villa.
Travel
Pisa is the nearest airport 50 minutes. Bologna airport is 2 hours away.
Distances
The nearest village is the medieval city of Barga, 10 minutes by car. Lucca 30 minutes, Florence 1 hour. The famous marbles of Carrara are only a short drive (20 minutes). 'The Mall' a luxury brand shopping outlet with Gucci, Armani Valentino etc. is one and a half hour away.
Further details
In the village there are several supermarkets, restaurants, banks and post office. Fine wines and local produce are to be found in the several 'botteghe' where you can taste food and wine before buying it. Open air markets and several food festivals take place during the summer months.
Booking notes
Bookings are to be accompanied by a 20% deposit of the rent. The balance of the rent must be paid 30 days before the start of the holiday via bank transfer. The full rent is payable if the occupation date is less than 30 days from the date of the booking. On arrival a deposit of €750 has to be paid to the owner. A representative for the owners lives in a neighbouring house to welcome guests and in case of emergencies.
