Outside
The property is set in an acre of farmland on a hill 280 metres above sea level. There is a private drive with space to park cars. There are two outside terraces for the morning sun and the afternoon sun with spectacular evening sunsets over Capri out to sea. The side or morning terrace includes a private pergola and barbecue area set in a wild mediterranean garden with fig,apricot, and olive trees including vines. For those tennis enthusiasts there is a tennis court just below the property which is available to rent. Contact the owner of the court for a date and time to play.
Coast/Beach
10 minute car drive or excellent and reliable bus service or scenic 40 minute walk to the long sandy beaches at Santa Maria di Castellabate. Excellent beach catering is provided ie extensive range of home cooked pasta seafood dishes, salads and rolls provided etc on Lido Azzurro in Santa Maria. Speak to Franco or his wife Rosanna to hire beach umbrellas, sunbeds and table reservations for lunch or dinner on the beach.
Special interest holidays
A very nice location for water colour painting, walking and playing rubbers of Bridge with friends in a peaceful and relaxing environment. Also you can hire bikes and cycle inland to the hills of Perdifumo or around the coastline. There are also facilities at the local beach for Scuba diving (Punta Licosa), windsurfing and water skiing at Lago. Wedding parties beach catering can be arranged through our local contact. Tennis court available to hire just below the property.
Travel
2 hours (Naples) or 3.5 hours (Rome). Car hire available from both Naples and Rome airports is recommended. However, this is not essential as trains and buses are very good and reliable.
Distances
Paestum Greek temples - 1/2 hour by car.
Pompeii and Vesuvius - 1 1/2 hours by car.
Capri by hydrofoil from San Marco nearby - 20 minutes (2 hour sea journey).
Ravello, Sorrento and Positano and the exceptionally beautiful Amalfi coastline by hydrofoil (25 minutes) or by coastal road (1 hour).
Maratea and Palinuro by coastal road (2 hours) travelling further south or private boat hire.
Punta Licosa coastal headland - (15 minutes). Good for weddings, scuba diving and snorkelling.

Castellabate is a medieval hill-top village in the Cilento region of Campania, Southern Italy. Located in a national park, it is situated 900 feet above sea level. The castle of the Abbot (where the name of the village originates) was begun in the 12th century and served as a refuge for the inhabitants against the raids of the Saracen pirates. Other attractions are the Angevin Papal Basilica and a 12th century bell tower. In the last century, Castellabate hosted many illustrious persons, such as the musician Leoncavallo and Giocchino Murat.
For all its seclusion, Castellabate is not remote. The long sandy beach (awarded a European Blue Flag) at Santa Maria di Castellabate is only 10 minutes by car. Santa Maria is a fishing village where small piazzas on sandy coves frame many lovely old buildings. There is a good selection of shops and cafes; a tranquil backwater in low season or a hive of activity in July and August.There are numerous places of natural and historic interest in the vicinity: the caves of Castelcivita and Pertosa are a real paradise for those who want to follow the subterranean by boat. The famous Greek temples of Paestum are only 20 minutes drive away.The well known resorts of Amalfi, Positano, Ravello and the Isle of Capri are all within easy reach of Castellabate.
Life in Castellabate is simple and charming. With the exception of the month of August, when the Italians take their holidays, the beaches are still uncrowded and clean. There are many restaurants and pizzerias. Children are welcomed everywhere and eating out is not expensive. Above all it is such a pleasure to be able to have your meals outside. There ia a local mini market 2 minutes from the property to cater fo all your needs. There are many restaurants in the village and at Santa Maria including banks and plentiful food shopping for fresh produce including excellent butchers and fish mongers.
Booking notes
A non refundable deposit of £150 or equivalent in Euros is payable at the time of booking. If bookings are secured less then two months prior to departure we may ask for the full amount in advance by cheque or by electronic transfer. Keys, detailed map and full directions to the property are sent prior to departure. Extra photos of the property and the surrounding area are available.
