Further details
Anghiari is an ancient Tuscan hilltown, still enclosed within the original stone walls. Etruscan, Roman and renaissance ruins and monuments are located throughout the area. The remaining architectural core of our small town is medieval, and has been protected and well-maintained. A good calendar of local events is available at: 'anghiari.it'. Anghiari is especially well known for its art and music schools and expertise in antique restoration, furniture building and historic pottery making. Events of particular interest include the spring crafts faire, footrace and celebration of the Battle of Anghiari, 1440 (June 29), the summer music and theater festivals, November food festival, and the Scampanata, held in May every 5 years (2010, 2015, etc.). There is a wide range of shops in town, inculding the world-famous fabric manufacturer, Busatti. There are banks, bankomats, food and vegetable markets, restaurants, butchers, hairdressers, an internet post, museums and galleries, and a number of excellent caffe/bars.
