Notes on accommodation
Central heating and airconditioning. Suitable for children over ten. Not suitable for pets or indoor smokers. A second identical apartment next door is also available to therefore sleep a maximum of 12 people.

One hour to the Sybilline mountains and National Park for walking and skiing, two-hour drive to Adriatic coast (Italian riviera), two-hour drive to the Tuscany coast. Closest beaches are Lake Trasemeno (25 minutes).

1.5 km to San Valentino (bar, shops), 3.5 km to Deruta (all shops, banks, markets, ceramics outlets), 14 km to Perugia (all modern and historic facilities), half-hour drive to Torgiano/ Montefalco/ Orvieto for wine, olive oil and linen, Lake Trasimeno. An abundance of art and history almost everywhere. Perugia hosts the annual Umbria jazz festival (July), Orvieto the Winter Jazz festival (New Year).

Perugia, and its outlying districts, has all modern facilities, supermarkets, banks, hi-fashion shopping. Deruta is the home of Italian ceramic art, design and manufacture. The local restaurants range from small family hospitality, trattorias to formal haute cuisine - all champion 'slow food', local produce and regional cooking. There are many local markets (Deruta, Marsciano) for fresh food, cheeses, meats, wine. We organise tours of the excellent local vineyards and cantinas, to see and taste 'Perugina' chocolate manufacture, and for Umbria jazz. We can also chart trails for lovers of renaissance art, of linen and lace making. A second identical apartment is available next door to sleep a possible total of 12 people.
Booking notes
A deposit of £150 is required at the time of booking, full payment 8 weeks prior to occupation of the property. Cancellation policy: in the event of cancellation after 8 weeks from the start of the holiday, 50% of the rental payment is non-refundable, we return 50%. Towels and linen are included, property is cleaned on arrival, final clean and laundry (€100) required, paid directly to the staff who manage the apartment. Special prices for long autumn/winter weekends (Christmas shopping!).

About the owner
Hi, meet Ruth and Mike, and welcome to our property page. In 2005 we spent 5 glorious months working and travelling in Umbria. We fell in love with the place, the art, the food and wine and particularly the wonderful city of Perugia. We found the apartment, with the fabulous view and didn't want to leave. We are busy professionals in the field of education and have lived and worked in different parts of the world, most recently in Ireland and in Italy. We have four children who, sadly, are beginning to spread their wings although we have two grandchildren and, hopefully, more on the way. We could happily live here in Castello delle Forme and love nothing more than to escape the hurly-burly of the city for the fun and tranquility of community life. Do come and experience it for yourselves!
Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
The village of Castello delle Forme captures everything that is wonderful about rural life in Umbria. We are close to the city of Perugia, an endless source of fascination and learning, we have stunning views across the Tiber valley, we have all of the amenities and friendship that a small community can bring. The weather really warms up in June and then the pool is a real necessity. The apartment is nicely self-contained, modern and allows for very easy living, and we have good access to a wide range of facilities whilst also enjoying privacy and seclusion from the madding crowds.
