Very cosy apartment in a gated community composed of one flloor villas (built in 2006), shared pool. Quiet, peaceful, set on the eastern flank of Mount Etna, it enjoys spectacular views of the volcano. It is surrounded by the countryside with citrus groves, 400 mt from the sea. The position is ideal for people who want to visit Sicily, enjoy the closeness of the sea and love mountains as well. There are two balconies opening in the living room and in the bedroom, and a terrace of 25 sq.m. where you can have relaxing dinners enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the place and the view of Etna. There's a lot of space for kids to run around safely. Facilities: shower, electric oven, dishwasher, fridge, washing machine, iron, toaster, tv set, towels and linen included, bikes on request, stereo, reserved parking place The location is ideal in any period of the year for exploring the coast of Sicily and enjoying spectacular excursions on Mount Etna.

Changeover day
The preferred changeover day is Saturday but it can be flexible in some periods of the year (not high season). Arrival and departure times will be agreed with the guest.

Outdoor furniture on the terrace, barbecue, sunshade parasol. Reserved parking place, bikes at your disposal on request for free. A shared pool is available in the summer.
Coast/Beach
There's a long beautiful pebbly beach 400m far from the apartment. On the beach in summer there's a good range of ‘Lidi’ providing facilities, such as umbrellas, deckchair, showers, snack bars, canoes. Night parties on the beach in summer.
Golf
For golfing there's "Il Picciolo Golf Club" at a 30 min drive: wonderful location, great climate without crowds and high green fees. The Club offers equipment hire and a smoking volcano as a backdrop. The club has played host to a number of international tournaments.
Skiing
Cross-country skiing on Mount Etna in winter, ski lift and equipment hire.

The east coast of Sicily offers a lot of things to do every time of the year, since the climate is one of the most agreable of Europe and every season has its own particular attraction. You can get in insight into history by visiting the sites of Sicily's unparalleled historical legacy. If you love walking this is an ideal place to go: you can walk up Europe's highest active volcano, discover the wonderful landscapes and paths of its Natural Park. For food and wine lovers the east coast of Sicily offers delicious discoveries; you can follow the "Road of Etna's wine" that winds around the flanks of the volcano or taste the fresh genuine local products. For those who love bicyling, there's a beautiful cycle-touring itinerary on the coast right in front of the apartment that goes to the Alcantara river.

The use of car is recommended. Low-budget flights from England to Catania airport (about 75 euros) with Air Malta or Thomson! Ryanair and Easyjet fly land in Palermo that is 2 and a half hours drive.

Further details
There is plenty of shops, restaurant, supermarkets 1.5km from the apartment in the village of Fondachello and in the towns of Giarre, Mascali and Riposto, where you can visit the new Etna's Marina and the typical fish market. In summer sports activities on the beach as well as restaurants, bars, sun loungers and umbrellas to hire.
If requested the owners can arrange for you horse riding on the beach, cooking classes of Sicilian cuisine in a xix century Sicilian house and guided excursion in Mount Etna Natural Park.
Acireale has the reputation as having the most beautiful carnival in Sicily. The town is located between Catania and Taormina on the east coast; the colourful Carnival procession proceed along the streets of the baroque centre.
