Accessibility
The apartment is not suitable for people with mobility problems, because there are 19 steps to get to the apartment from the street level, no elevator.
Outside
The main entrance opens on the street leading to the Field of Miracles.
Coast/Beach
Pisa used to be on the coast, then over time the river Arno has built 6km of coastline and now the closest beach is in Marina di Pisa. Tirrenia, the Versilia, the Etruscan coast, the Elba Isle, Cinque Terre are all easy daytrips. Marina di Pisa is at 10km, Tirrenia is 13km away. There are buses and trains to Viareggio as well.
Golf
Two main golf courses in Pisa: Tirrenia Golf Club and Cosmopolitan Golf Club. The course in Irrenia is older (late 60's) and it is very beautiful. It is a nine-hole layout. Two tee areas allow for a different approach for your 18 holes. Cosmopolitan is approx. 500m from the sea and occupies 70 hectares of land. It was voted Best New Golf Course in Italy in 1993. It is a challenging layout even for the best. It is a seaside links course that is susceptible to the sweeping ocean winds.
Skiing
The closest ski resorts are on the Mount Abetone, 30 mins away. Among the best in Italy.
Special interest holidays
We do not directly offer special courses or activities, but we would be happy to help our guests find language lessons, wine tours, cooking classes and other interesting activities upon request and free of charge.
Travel
Pisa airport Galileo Galilei is practically in town. The best thing is that, besides many national airlines, most low-cost airlines such as Ryan Air and Easy Jet fly to Pisa. This makes the trip really affordable. If you wish to rent a car, the best pick up location is the airport. We offer pick up service free of charge, oth from the airport and from the train station of Pisa. Pisa has two train stations: Centrale and San Rossore, right behind the apartment.
Distances
Besides the city itself - where there is much more to do than to see the Leaning Tower and rush away - Pisa is an excellent base to visit northern Tuscany. A car is not necessary if you wish to visit the major cities and town, all easily reachable by train or bus. Florence, Siena, Lucca, Cinque Terre and the Versilia, with Viareggio, Massa Carrara, or Montecatini and other famous destinations are easy train rides. If you decide to rent a car, we recommend a daytrip to the Garfagnana.
Further details
A nice activity is to take the boat tour of the city. Carriage tours are also interesting but expensive. The best time of the year in Pisa is June, when the city organises several festivals the best of which is La Luminara, on June 16th, and on the 17th there is the Regatta. On the last weekend of June there is the Gioco del Ponte.
Supermarket and restaurants and bars literally around the corner.
