Not suitable for wheelchairs.Suggest older guests are aware Venice has many bridges with steps and incurs a lot of walking.
Outside
Private courtyard approached from locked external door on the street. This leads to the entrance into the sitting room. The courtyard contains an ancient well now full of plants. Wisteria climbing plants clothe the walls and the local washing flutters above. Garden chairs offer respite with a glass of prosecco provided. Outdoor containers for suitcases and wellingtons for aqua alta.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beaches at the Lido, one stop from Arsenale vaporetto. Wilder beaches at Palestrina (take bus from Lido) Also boat trips on the Brenta Canal passing Renaissance villas.
Ferry service to Croatia and Greece.
Travel
EasyJet Marco Polo airport 1 hour by Aliliguna (12 euros) stops Arsenale and San Zaccaria, or 30 mins by water taxi (approx 80 euros) Ryanair Treviso airport coach to Piazzale Roma 1 hour (9 euros). no. 52 vaporetto to San Zaccaria 20 mins.
Orient Express and Eurostar from Waterloo.
Distances
San Marco 10 minutes walk. Scuola San Giorgio degli Schiavoni around the corner from apartment. Venice walkable, offers on vaporetto tickets. Nearby islands Lido, Palestrina, Murano on Venice ticket. Half hour journey to Islands of Burano and Torcello. By train Treviso 20 mins. Padua 30 mins. Verona 1 hour. Mountains: Cortina for skiing 2 hours. Veneto wine tours 1 hour. Boat trips to villas and gardens on the Brenta Canal 30 mins.

Behind Vivaldi's church La Pieta, Salizzida San Antonin has a complete collection of local shops, fishmonger, baker, wine merchant and two mini supermarkets. Also cafes. A large Punto supermarket nearby. Famous restaurants Al Cova and Corte Sconte in the next streets. Post office in Via Garabaldi.Banks by San Marco. At Carnival childrens fair on the Riva. Regatta Historica in September from Arsenale. For fans of Donna Leon, Ponte Greci is the next bridge.
