Ramelton is one of Ireland's Heritage towns, it's a charming town of the 17th century situated in the heart of Donegal built at the mouth of the river Lennon where it flows into Lough Swilly. It was location for the film Hanging Gale in the area around Conways Bar - thatched pub with plenty of atmosphere. Ideal base for a fishing trip river Lennon is open for trout fishing from March to September.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the house per week/weekends in euros and are fully inclusive of heating, electricity, bed linen and hand towels only. Payment in Euros is preferred. We also have the facility to accept payment by credit cards via paypal.
Changeover day
Change over day preferred is Saturday but flexible depending on availability of accommodation. For the months of June July & August property should be vacated by 10am and arrival by 2pm is preferred.
Notes on accommodation
Oil fired central heating and open soild fuel fire in sitting room. Baby sitting service available.
Outside
Enclosed back garden with barbeque it gets the sun in the afternoon ideal for relaxing and catching a few rays.
Coast/Beach
All beaches in Donegal have lovely golden sands. The seaside village of Rathmullen is just 5 min by car where you can go pony trekking at the nearby Golden Sands Equestrian Centre or charter a boat for pleasure and fishing trips at the pier, take the ferry crossing to the Inishowen peninsula. Rathmullen and Portsalon beaches are a short senic drives.
Golf
Letterkenny and Otaway Golf Clubs are both 5 minutes drive away with Portsalon Golf Club, 20 minutes drive.
Special interest holidays
Guests have found house an ideal base for fishing trips particularly trout fishing on the river Lennon from March to September. Kathleen Loughrey school of cookery is 5 min drive in Rathmullen. Bingo - locally, Milford Inn Tuesday 9pm, Golden Grill Letterkenny Thursday 9pm, Termon Hall Friday 9pm, Milford Hall Sunday 9pm.

Carrickfinn 35 Miles - approx 1 hr drive
Belfast 90 Miles - approx 2 hrs drive (direct bus service available to Ramelton) Direct flights from UK & many European cities.
Londonderry 30 Miles - approx 35 mins drive direct flights from Glasgow, Nottinghmam East Midlands, Liverpool, Stansted.
You may also wish to take the ferry across and drive.
Distances
Letterkenny, County Donegals main town, is 10 minutes by car has a 5 screen cinema, bowling, go-karting, public swimming pool, a beautiful urban park, An Grianan Theatre and have many shopping centres where you will find a wide variety of shops and farmers market. The village of Milford is 5 mins drive away where you can go paint balling or clay pigeon shooting. The river lennon which flows through the village is excellent for trout fishing river is open from March till September.

In Ramelton The Mirabeau Steak House offers excellent cuisine. The Bridge Bar Restaurant has a superb menu specialising in Fish, advance booking recommended especially at weekends. However, if it's morning after the night before and it's big breakfast kinda food you're after, the only place to go is Steve's Cafe - every town should have one! All are within walking distace. From the house it is a just 2 minute walk to shops, hair and spa beauty salons, weekly Country Market fresh veg, home baking local handcrafted gifts, on every Saturday morning in the town hall beside tennis courts at 11am(arrive early a visit here is a must) pubs, wine-bars, shore-line, forest and town walks. Fishing, tennis courts, astro turf; home to famous Swilly Rovers soccer team, Donegal Ancestry Centre and Ramelton Story exhibition are all nearby. Ramelton is also home to McDaids Bottling Stores award winning soft drinks manufacuters for their Football Special, Banana, Pineapple flavoured drinks. Glenveagh National Park a beautiful estate bequested to Ireland by the painter Derek Hill is 20 mins drive with Mount Errigal and Muckish mountians both excellent for climbing.
1) Do the Fanad Drive leaving from Letterkenny go through Rathmelton and Rathmullen and on to Fanad. Beautiful Scenery. Stop at the cellar bar for coffee in Rathmullen House and walk the Beach. Another Beach you will see is Magherawarden you cant miss it as you drive. Good food at Rathmullen House or at Portsalon. Stop at Portsalon at Sarahs Bar for a guinness. Continue back via Mulroy Bay and back via Milford to Letterkenny - full day out. Great food at the Milford Inn.
2) Go to Glenveagh National Park, Gardens and Castle Tour - well worth a visit (via Kilmacrenan).
3) Another drive is via carrigart to Dunfanaghy, Rosapenna and Horn Head area - great scenary.
4) You can also travel to Rathmullen again and take the Ferry to the Inishowen Peninsula and drive all around Inishowen.
