The town of Letterkenny is built on the lough swilly which forms a sandy coastline at Rathmullan 15 miles away. 3 miles further up the coastline takes you on a spectactular scenic drive and european blue flag beach at Portsalon; Donegal is renowned for its beautiful beaches as well as its surf which is popular at Rossnowlagh and Bundoran a 1hr 20mins drive. Other beautiful beaches include Marble Hill and Killahoey 21/35km which too were awarded Blue Flags.
