Young person: our week away was a gorgeous experience and I really enjoyed it. I loved my bed! much comfier than my one at home! Ireland was a nice holiday and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Adult: a great week blessed with good weather after the first two days - Ireland is the most beautiful place, the scenery is magnificent. Everyone whom we met has been very friendly and helpful, especially Mrs Merrigan (our key holder). We hope to return.
Adult: had a very enjoyable week, weather reasonable (in spite of forecast). Enjoyed the cottage, which catered for all our needs, the dog loved the garden and had a warm welcome from Mary (keyholder).
Owner profile
About the owner
Born and brought up in Wicklow Town, I bought the property after my parents had died to retain my links with the area and to have a base for our family holidays and for keeping in touch with our extended family and friends.
Mary, who manages the property in our absence, is someone, whom I have known all my life. The briefest look at our Visitors' Book show how highly our guests value her input, as we do ourselves.
Year purchased: 1992
Why the owner chose a home in this location
I bought the house originally as a holiday home for my family and to retain my links with the area after my parents died.
We and our children with their own families still use it every year for holidays.
As it is so conveniently located and centrally heated, it is possible to enjoy being here at any time of the year.
Unique benefits of the property
The property has been set up primarily for our own use and is therefore well equipped for use by families and with childrens' safety in mind. Located in Wicklow town, it offers easy access to the facilities in the town as well as to "The Garden of Ireland" (County Wicklow) and all its outdoor activities, Dublin and Wexford for individuals, families and groups.
Centrally heated, it is available for use all the year round, and although we recommend use of a car, it is on the direct express bus route (133) from Dublin Airport, Dublin city and Bray. Bus 133 also serves Arklow and bus 02 goes onto Rosslare (also served by train).
Cars (Sinnotts Garage - will bring you to the garage), bicycles (Wicklow Cycles - South Quay) and boats can be hired locally and taxis are easily available.
