Notes on accommodation
Heating is by electric storage heaters and easily adjusted. The heating will be set when you arrive to the local weather conditions. Laurel cottage is great for children with the country side, beaches and so much to do but please be aware here that often farm animals can be at the front door and tractors do use the lane past the house.
Accessibility
Laurel cottage is over 120 years old and has uneven floors and some low doorways. This is what makes the cottage so unique as it is the oldest in the area but may make the cottage unsuitable for those with wheelchairs and those unsteady on their feet.
Outside
Shed suitable for storage of bikes, surfboards and drying. The secluded back garden is partly grass (suitable for a small kick about with a ball) and partly paved with local slate. We have built a raised BBQ area with bench and beautiful views over the fields to Errigal mountain. The glasshouse looking into the back garden is a lovely place to sit for breakfast (small table and 2 chairs).

Laurel Cottage is ideally suited for both the serious player and the more casual player. We have 3 courses close to the cottage offering a variety of challenges.
Cloughaneely Golf club in Falcarragh is our closest just 2 miles from the cottage. It is a peaceful parkland course opened in 1995 with beautifully manicured greens and spectacular views as you play the 9 holes. Each is named after the view from the tee. Green fees are around 20 euro.
Dunfanaghy Golf Club is just a 15 minute drive from the cottage. It is an 18 hole true links course laid out in 1905 by 6 times British Open winner, Harry Vardon. The course runs behind Killahoey beach up the the picturesque fishing harbour of Portnablagh with the cliffs of Horn Head always visible to seaward and Muckish and the Derryveigh mountains on the other. Green fees are 30 - 40 euro. 2 holes need you to play over the beach .... just for a bit more challenge on those breezy days.

Some superb restaurants including The Mill as recommended by the Sunday Times, The Cove, Dannie Minnies, and the Lobster Pot. Please check our own website for more details.
The cottage built around 120 years ago is just outside Falcarragh Ireland's largest Irish speaking town . Here there is a superb market every Friday while the town also has 4 small supermarkets, off licences, gift shops an ATM and of course a selection of pubs with nightly entertainment.
It is a short drive from numerous pristine sandy beaches including Tramore, Ballyness and Marble Hill. Muckish mountain is just four miles from the cottage and a two hour walk to the summit affords spectacular views from The Rosses in the south across the Bloody Foreland and Tory Island to the Inishowen peninsula towards Irelands most northerly point Malin Head.
Horse riding available at Dunfanaghy and in the summer a surf shop and school has been opened. Glenveagh Castle set in 40,000 acres of mountains, glens and woodland is nearby as is Doe Castle built in the 16th century by the MacSweeneys .
The 600ft sea cliffs around Horn Head are some of the highest in Europe and we can arrange the ultimate way to experience them with a boat trip which takes you within 20 feet of the base of these. You can look up to see Guillemots, Fulmars and Razorbills soaring above while Puffins skim past and you may be lucky enough to spot grey seals, porpoises and basking sharks.

'Donegal for everyone'
'What a lovely place for a holiday. We enjoyed every minute of it. This property has real old world charm and the surrounding area is just heaven.'
'Going back next year, only this time for longer!'
Stayed here for a week at the beginning of September. Before we unlocked the door I was warned "look, it might not be like what it looked like on the website", but it was! We weren't too lucky with the weather but still climbed Errigal, caught fish off the rocks (and had them for tea) walked for hours every day on magnificent beaches and every night saw another amazing sunset. We also sat on our backsides in front of the turf fire or round the table in the beautiful has-everything kitchen and slept in cosy beds listening to the rain and wind outside. We had a most relaxing holiday (and am not often given to climbing mountains just cos they're there) in a handsomely designed and equipped cottage and I am looking forward to getting back as soon as possible.
