Set in the beautiful location of the Shehy Mountains this property has breathtaking views. It has a large fenced-in garden which is ideal for dogs or children and a large parking area to the front of the property. The nearest village, Kealkil is 2 miles and has a shop and 2 pubs. The nearest town Bantry is a 15 minute drive, and has a supermarket, gift shops and lots of restaurants and pubs. Gougane Barra Forest Park is nearby and is a location worth visiting for a walk with either the dogs or children, it is threaded through with great streams to play in and lots of picnic areas. It has a very Lord of the Rings feel about it! There are sandy beaches at Barley Cove and Toormore which are within an hours drive of the property. Lots of fishing(river,lake and sea) in locality. Guided fishing by arrangement and seperate pricing.

Notes on accommodation
Property ideal for dog owners or people with children. A good base for walkers or mountain bike enthusiasts. Lots of games, jigsaws, toys etc for children are at the property. Also lots of videos. Electric and gas inclusive of price.

This property is all on one level, however doors etc have not been widened and the back garden is on a slope.

Sandy beaches within an hour's drive at Toormore Bay, Crookhaven and Barley Cove. However there are lots of other pebbley and smaller beaches much more locally to the property.
Golf
Lots of Golf courses in locality, the nearest is in Bantry, and another excellent one in Glengariff, both of which are within 15 minutes drive of the property.
There is lots of course, river and sea fishing in the locality. also whalewatching within an hours drive. Horse riding nearby. The property is ideal for walkers or keen cyclists.

Nearest airport in Cork an hours drive away.
Swansea Cork ferries dock at(Cork) Ringaskiddy just over an hour from the property.
Rosslare 170 miles from house.
Car is essential and all usual rental firms based at Cork International Airport.

Deposit paid at time of booking, holiday to be paid in full 8 weeks before holiday commences. If holiday booked within 8 weeks of departure full balance is due at time of booking. Minimum stay two nights/no overnight stays.

We have stayed at a number of places in Ireland over the last 7 years. The difference between the other properties and this one is simple. The others have been specifically holiday accommodation of varying standards, whereas Cuckoo's Nest is a home. A home suitable for children and dogs and that is why we have felt so relaxed and 'at home' during our week here. The place has character and soul and is not sterile like most places we have stayed at.
Thanks to the Gravestock Clan for allowing us to stay here, we wish you well with the future of this house. You are so lucky to have a house in this great country. The Wilkes Family
