The beautiful 16th Century church houses the tomb of the Tyrol’s national hero Andreas Hofer and is a regular attraction for tourists. Perhaps the most famous attraction in the area is the ‘Golden Roof’ (Goldenes Dachl). Created for the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I and covered in over 2500 golden coloured copper tiles, it was used as a view point by him to observe happenings in the square below.
