This is a large apartment of 960 square feet, with balconies front and back. Villascente is a 14 apartment development built in 2000 by Acron, Goa's best developer. It has a good, well maintained swimming pool and 24 hour security. The location is excellent, 200 yards up a busy, well lighted lane from the main Candolim Road and many restaurants and shops, including Goa's biggest supermarket, Newton's. Buses to Goa's capital, Panjim, Calangute and to the regional market town Mapusa, pass the end of the lane at frequent intervals, providing easy and cheap access to both places. Candolim beach is a short walk away, with a stretch of sand from Fort Aguada in the South via Calangute to Baga in the North - probably 10 kilometers in all. Most of that is serviced by beach shacks providing meals and drinks, sunbeds and sunshades.

Accessibility
Not suitable for wheelchair users as it is up two flights of stairs.
Outside
There is a well maintained garden with sun loungers provided beside the swimming pool, which is 13 meters long by about 7 wide. The pool is available only to people staying at Villascente.
Coast/Beach
Eight minutes walk to the beach, which provides about 10 km of sand stretching from Fort Aguada along Sinquerim, Candalim and Calangute beaches to Baga.
Travel
Nearest airport is Dabolim (GOI) which is just under an hour's drive from the property. No car is necessary as most of a holidaymakers needs are catered for locally within walking distance, and buses provide an excellent service to the two nearby big towns. Taxis are usually available waiting in the lane outside Villascente.

From Villascente, Fort Aguada is about 3 km, Calangute 3 km, Mapusa and Panjim both about 10 km.
Further details
Nearby shops are Newton's supermarket, which sells all the provisions and alcohol that visitors are likely to need; Fab India which sells high quality Indian fabrics, clothing, etc; Glimpses of India which also sells high quality goods of a similar nature. There are many restaurants, and it is a matter for visitors to check those out for themselves. Among those nearby are Fisherman's Cove, Foxy's, and Teama.

Please contact me by email to book, and avoid using phone if possible. £100 refundable deposit. The rate is £40 per night in peak season, dropping to £35 per night in November and February and £30 a night outside those months. Rates for long-term let negotiable.

About the owner
My Goan wife and I lived in this apartment for part or most of the season from 2000 until December 2007, when we moved to Siolim, further up the coast. We are both retired, I was a journalist and later an IT teacher; my wife was a shorthand secretary who became a software trainer in a major London hospital. We both love Goa and the Goans and hope to continue spending most of the year here for as long as we are able to.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
It is an excellent, central location for every activity you can follow in Goa. It has since become even more attractive, with arrival of many new shops, restaurants and supermarkets. I have said elsewhere that the bus service to both Mapusa and Panjim are excellent; if you're going to Panjim best get off at the Betim ferry, which drops you right in the middle of down town Panjim.

Benefits you enjoy include proximity to the beach, beach shacks, excellent restaurants, a wide range of shops including the nearby Acron Arcade, and very cheap alcohol, if that appeals.
