Colonia de Braganza is an attractive holiday resort situated in the heart of the exciting and colourful Calangute area of Goa. Once a small fishing village, Calangute still retains its charm as a delightful, safe place to stay. There is a picturesque open fruit and seafood market, and a daily market of Tibetan and Kashmiri artefacts. There is a great nightlife and abundant watersports which can be enjoyed in a terrific all year round climate which rarely drops below 70F. Temples, churches, animal sanctuaries and waterfalls can all be experienced within easy reach of the apartment. Our driver will meet you at the airport and deliver you to the apartment. An ideal destination for families of all ages, couples and friends. And one that provides a luxury holiday at a reasonable price. Just make the decision and email me. The accommodation is on the top floor (100 sq.m.) with French doors onto balconies east and west. It includes 2 bedrooms,sleeps 4, plus 2 on 2 single sofa beds.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds, for acceptance in other currencies see exchange rates at XE.com. You can pay by credit card and cheque in £GBP, $NZD and euros also. Discounts for long lets, 1 month plus. Prices include cleaning, gas, electricity and water (not drinking). 10% discount for bookings made for low seasons for 14 days plus. Prices are for 4 persons only. Additional guests will be charged at £30 per week each.
Changeover day
Arrivals can be any day of the week. Although the resort hotel reception is manned 24 hours a day, the English speaking staff are only there in the daytime.

Notes on accommodation
Fabulous air conditioning in both bedrooms. Our apartment is furnished to a European standard with cool, tiled floors and a fully tiled wetroom. All furniture and soft furnishings are quality products especially made for the apartment. Being on the top floor we usually enjoy a through breeze.
Accessibility
Not suitable for wheelchair uses.We regret there is no lift.
Outside
We have 4 balcony chairs to enjoy the views of the palm garden. The resort has security guards. The pool (near the bar/restaurant) is sparkling and always a perfect temperature. There is a smaller pool just below our balconies. During the peak period, the pool area may well be busy. We swim either early or late in the day and prefer to stay out of the midday sun.
Coast/Beach
Calangute and Baga beach are made of soft yellow sand which dips gently into the Arabian Sea. The beaches are long and wide, with traditional palm leaf huts and relaxed bars and restaurants selling delicious sea food. The swimming is safe and in the season there is a lifeguard on duty. Just 10 minutes away. As this is a popular Indian tourist destination the beach will often be busy.

Travel
Dabolin is the nearest airport, at just 40 minutes drive away from the resort. Our driver , will pick you up. You will need to text him to arrange pick up. The trip from the airport is 700 rupees. He may take you into the back of the resort, which can be rather scruffy but don't be alarmed. Just remember this is India! You do not need a car but if you fancy a trip to town or a drive to explore the area he will take you. Alternatively you can hire a motor cycle or jump in a tuctuc.
Distances
Mapsa is the nearest large town which is 20 minutes away. They have a huge Friday market where you can buy goods and gifts at un-tourist prices. A number of inexpensive bus tours go from Calangute. The city of Panjim is a 40 minute drive.
Further details
There are many local supermarkets where you can buy English foods, should you prefer non-Indian food occasionally. There is a large takeaway food hall if you just want a quick snack. Food and drinks are very cheap. You can eat and drink like a king. There are many ATMs and it is easy to get rupees.
Please remember this is India so sometimes service can be slow. You can enjoy yoga and health spas, massage and therapies nearby. Or if you want activity, go to the beach where you can experience para gliding over the beautiful Indian Ocean. Enjoy. Our driver will be happy to pick you up at the airport, you just need to text him. He charges 700 rupees(this is the standard rate). If you need a larger vehicle let him know in advance and he will oblige.
Booking notes
33% deposit (non refundable) is required upon booking (£100) minimum. Balance is payable 6 weeks before arrival. Deposit to be paid by cheque or transfer. There is a £50 key deposit (fully refundable) Also a £50 damage deposit (refundable as long as there are no breakages). No hidden costs. 6. The owners reserve the right to refuse any booking or cancel any bookings already made subject to refunding any sums you have paid without further liability on our behalf.

The Owners John and Jan live overseas and love holidays. We purchased our holiday home in 2007. We have had wonderful family gatherings here and would like to share this with other families when we are away. We welcome everyone.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We went to Goa out of season and were given such a warm welcome wherever we went that we decided to buy. We felt that Goa is a very safe place to be. We would dearly love to spend more time at our apartment in Calangute but the reality of keeping our business running elsewhere drags us away. Therefore we would like to offer the apartment to other like minded persons to enjoy while we are away.
Unique benefits of the property
Stunning golden beeches stretching for miles where the water temperature is just right. Safe to stroll on the foreshore at night. Markets buzzing with energy and amazing value. Beautiful food and also still incredibly cheap. Live like a king on a pensioners income! Our local contact George is a marvel. Whatever you want , wherever you want to go he will help you. He is just like family!!
