Not very suitable for people with mobility problems. Access by car to front door but only small car.

Coast/Beach
10 minutes drive from Poonilavu House lays one of the worlds most beautiful beaches. In the evenings you can see a beautiful tropical saffron clad sunset. It will be one of the most amazing experiences of your life. Marari Beach is 30 minutes drive you can use the beach and swimming pool facility and recreation services. There is a charge for this but alternatively, adjacent to the hotel is a free beach.

Cochin airport 1 and half hours drive. Taxis, driver and car
readily available.

Alappuzha Town 10 minutes by car.
Further details
Local shops, supermarket, banks, and all amenities are only 10 minutes drive. There are several hotels varying from 10-30 minutes drive away. Kumarakum Lake is a must to see, watch the sun go down and enjoy watching the local fishermen casting their fishing nets.

Our stay at Poonilavu House was one of the best holidays we have ever had. The location is fantastic, short walk from the road for getting into town and being right on the river there is that wonderful buzz of life going on all around. The house was a perfect retreat after long days out and about, comfortable, and relaxing. Good facilities. Situated on the waters edge, the house has lovely views to front and rear. Its location makes Poonilavu House an ideal base from which to explore the famous Backwaters of Kerala. Other amenities such as Alleppey town, supermarkets, and beaches are several km distant and is necessary to use taxi or rickshaw. About the owner
I live on an island called Orkney located at the northern tip of Scotland. I am The General Manager of a Hotel
on the Islands. Orkney is very busy in the summer months with tourists, but the winters are very bleak. I bought my house in Kerala, India 2 years ago. On my
first trip there I thought it was one of the most beautiful places I had ever seen. I was lucky enough to
be in a position to buy a house there. I found a house for sale on the Backwaters of Alleppey. My last holiday there was for five weeks and we all had a fantastic time. My intention is to go there as much as possible and rent it out the rest of the time. It really is a unique
holiday destination I can fully recommend it.
Why the owner chose a home in this location
The very first time I sailed into the Backwaters of Alleppey I thought it was one of the most beautiful places I had ever seen. A very peaceful place away from the normal hussle and bussle, the local people are so welcoming and friendly and are never intrusive in any way. Poonilavu House is situated on the river in a most beautiful setting, only 10 minutes away is the
town of Alleppey where all amenities such as hotels, restaurants, banks, supermarkets, railway station, etc are available.
Unique benefits of the property
Ideal location very peaceful and quiet with easy access to Alleppey town only 10 mins away. Situated on the river it is a delight to watch children going to school in wooden canoes, women diving for fresh mussels, men out fishing and going about there daily chores, duck farmers with their thousands of ducks, something you could watch all day. Boats coming past selling the fresh catch of today. To the rear of the house is fantastic views of the vast paddy fields where
the women go to work most days.
The neighbours and local people are so helpful and more
than happy to assist with anything you require.
