Jay's Place Luxury Guest House (Sleeps up to 9)

All guest rooms are on the 1st floor. Stylish and spotless our rooms are large and airy. All rooms come with a large balcony, ceiling fan, refrigerator, Sky TV. with (English channels and sport) twin beds (can come together as a double), seating, wardrobe with full length mirror, bedside tables and lamps along with stylish wall hangings and pictures. Of the three rooms, one has an en-suite bathroom whilst a second bathroom is adjacent to and shared by the two remaining rooms. The en-suite room (room 1) also has the benefit of a further large sit-out balcony with table and chairs. The bathrooms are kept immaculately and benefit from hand basin and mirror, western style WC. Shower with hot and cold water. The louvre windows in the bathrooms are fitted with discreet security grills as well as anti-mosquito screens - as are all the windows in the villa. The ground floor has a large communal lounge with sofas, ceiling fan and DVD player for those who might want to catch a movie.

Notes on accommodation
Having a child of our own we have endeavoured to make the garden as child friendly as possible with as few 'pokey-type' plants as we could manage - that is not to say there aren't any. The garden has an area which has a slide and swing ropes etc. along with a variety of loose toys.

Accessibility
Sadly Jay's Place is not suitable for the heavily wheelchair dependant. Whilst access from the street is not too much of a concern (3 steps) there is a wide but twisting staircase of some 20 steps to access the guest rooms on the first floor.

Outside
As described earlier the garden is very pretty and well tended and stocked with fruit trees like guava, custard apple, banana, lemon and lime along with some little known local fruits. Flowering bushes include magnolia and numerous colourful and fragrant varieties along with Pineapples and sugar cane.

Coast/Beach
A choice of lively or secluded beaches are all available close to hand. The nearest beach is of the livelier type with beach shacks and water sports and is some 3-4 minutes stroll from Jay's Place - good clean golden sand - good range of shacks with predominately excellent food many providing free sunbeds to their customers. 6-7 minutes walk brings you to quieter shacks. A taxi or scooter ride will take you to any number of virtually deserted beaches.

Golf
Jay's Place operate and provide trips to the nearest full size (7150 yds) golf course available to Goan holiday makers. There is not a full size - 18 hole course available in Goa. Holiday Golf is provided to all visitors to Goa not just guests at Jay's Place. Because the course is some 3-4 hours drive away in neighbouring Kanataka the trip is only provided as an overnight. Whereby players (non-playing partners welcome too) are provided with the following for a single payment of Rupees 6500 (approx 75UK pounds) air conditioning coach there and back, overnight accommodation in a very good quality hotel (with pool) 9 holes the first day and 18 holes on the second. All meals – Lunch, dinner, breakfast, lunch - Clubs,tees and balls/green fees/caddies. Super trip well enjoyed by those who have been last season.

Travel
Dabolim (at present the only airport in Goa) is some 45/60 minutes from Jay's Place by taxi - pick-up can be arranged (a driver standing with your name on a board immediately as you leave the arrivals hall). Just confirm "airport pick-up" when booking.

Distances
Jay's Place is situated in South Calangute approx 20 minutes walk from Calangute centre or 5 minutes on a scooter or in a taxi. Panjim, the state capital of Goa, is some 20 Kms from us about 30 minutes in a taxi. Easy access by scooter or taxi to all the main coastal towns in North Goa.

Further details
Without doubt we are spoilt with the range and quality of restaurants around us. Of the top-end restaurants, we are lucky enough to have three of probably the top 5 right here on our doorstep - 2-3 minutes stroll. Terrific food at unbelievable prices is to be had at virtually every level closeby. Again, within walking distance are two of the main supermarkets of north Goa with a good range of european branded goods available. Banks, ATM's, souvineer shops etc. are in Calangute centre. Doctor and Dentist close by and very good.
