This will now be our third season here at The Oceanic Pearl studio apartments. We have continued to equip the Studio's to a high standard for our guests with the hope that their stay with us will always be relaxing and happy. We have 3 double bedded Studios on the 1st floor, 2 at the front of the building with large balconies, 1 at the rear with a side view balcony and a really nice twin bedded Studio, also at the rear that has no balcony but pleasant aspect across a little wooded area (can be made into double bedded room). On the 2nd floor, adjoining our own private apartment is a further large double Studio again with side view balcony. The best chill-out beach and beach shacks are only 3-4 minutes walk from us and in the opposite direction are plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. Candolim is also close by. Calangute 5 minutes by bus.

Notes on prices
Extra bed for adult (including child over 12) added to Studio 1 & 5 will increase the room rate by 50% if there are then three persons in the room.
Bookings are very active for next season and we look forward to your early enquiry.

Changeover day
Flexible. However, occasionally guests arriving VERY early in the morning might have to wait until around 11am if the room has to be vacated but we do everything to make arrival and departure as easy as possible. Advise us time of arrival if you can.

Accommodation

 

Notes on accommodation
We have ceiling fan for cooling rooms, which are naturally cool because of the location of the building, although it does get warm in April. The layout of the building is not really suitable for young children but we will look at each individual enquiry sympathetically if the children are older.
Although we are a non-smoking building, we do not object to guests smoking out on their balcony.

Accessibility
Sadly, because of the accommodation being on upper floors the access would probably not be suitable for wheelchair users and anyone with serious mobility issues. But, you can e-mail us with any queries relating to this question of access.

Outside
Outside we have a pretty, shaded garden. There are clothes drying lines at the back of the building which can be used by guests. A long driveway makes it private and there are two sets of gates which gives us security. Large, quiet swimming pool is in an adjoining restaurant and can be used for about Rs.100 per day.

Coast/Beach
It is a 3-4 minute stroll to the beach which has clean, golden sand and is very quiet by Goan standards. There are some excellent beach shacks that serve top quality food all day and evening and offer free sunbeds to their customers using the shack. Very few hawkers here. For swimming pool, there is a large one at the Little Italy restaurant opposite us which is open to local guests with a small daily charge.

Special interest holidays
We have a couple of reliable drivers available (one has large a/c new car) who will conduct private tours for up to 4 people to places of interest in Goa, at very reasonable costs. They are trustworthy and responsible and we can put you in touch with them from here.

Travel
Airport is Dabolim and approx 1 hour drive away from us in north Goa. We have several very reliable taxi drivers if guests wish to be collected from airport. Alternatively, there is a government taxi rank there.

Distances
Main City, Panaji is 19km from here. Bus, taxi, scooter or car takes about 30 minutes to get there. In South Goa, the main town is Margao which can be reached by bus or taxi. Many local villages and Calangute centre is 20 minutes walk or 5 minutes bus/taxi or scooter.

Further details
Within 3-4 minutes walk from The Oceanic Pearl are lots of shops, restaurants and bars. Also a number of small supermarkets, chemists and doctors. There is a good local hospital in Calangute. Most banks are in Calangute but money can be exchanged locally. If you would like to take a trip to interesting parts of Goa, or into other States to experience a bit of India we have some very good travel organisers close by who will make any arrangements necessary. Closer to home we have beautiful Old Goa, spice plantations, wonderful birds, butterflies and wildlife that you can see by just taking a walk or a short organised trip. Night markets, famous Anjuna hippy market, nightlife is good, visit Panaji (Panjim) Goa's capital where there is excellent shopping, lovely promenade and architecture. After that try an evening sunset cruise from the waterfront or a long 'lunch' buffet cruise (full day) on the Noah's Ark boat to see the rivers of Goa. Also on the river are a number of different trips available. For food lovers the food in Goa is a fusion of their past Portuguese history and Indian flavours, it's so good. Locally you can take a short cooking course, yoga lessons, massage and beauty treatments for ladies. Alternatively, you can just chill with a cold beer on the beach and watch the sun go down.
We can organise for you to hire a scooter, motor bike or car through friends here and you will not be overcharged! Please note: you will need an international driving licence to avoid any brushes with the law!

Booking notes
All enquiries about The Oceanic Pearl bookings and availability dates can be done through our email. We have a phone number to call if a quick enquiry is needed. Deposits are 20%, paid into our UK bank (by personal visit or internet system) or by rupee cheque/direct transfer to our Indian bank for domestic tourists. Payment balances are made when you arrive in Rupees. But please note, for last minute bookings full payment in advance is required before booking is accepted.
