Cottage in style in a beautiful setting 5 out of 5 - Joan Vic, Catalonia
Review Submitted: August 30, 2010 Date of Stay: August 2010
Our stay in this cottage was a wonderful experience. The cottage is very cosy and comfortable and our children really felt "at home" during our stay there.
It is located in a peaceful area near a lake, at the foot of Mount Esja - at the same time it is not far from Reykjavik and it is very convenient to visit the many attractions of western Iceland. It is also a good place for hiking or other outdoor pursuits. We have stayed in several cottages in Europe during the last ten years and I would definitely recommend this one. See more reviews on my webstie.

About the owner
I was brought up in Iceland but currently live in London, UK. We come to Iceland regularly where we relish the peace and quiet and the spectacular views all year round.
Year purchased: 2007
Why the owner chose a home in this location
The Location of the cottage is perfect for us. We have found a place close enough to Reykjavik so we can easily see friends and family and enjoy all the things the city has to offer. We also wanted to be able to enjoy the peace and beauty of the Icelandic countryside and mountains. We are keen walkers and there are great many hiking routes in the area of County Kjos and Hvalfjörd. (There is a map at the cottage showing these routes). The cottage is also well located for all the major attractions of the area such as Thingvellir national park, Blue Lagoon, Snaefellsnes. There are great swimming pools farily near wich youngsters of all ages enjoy, but what clinched the deal for us was the fact that on a clear day there is unobstructed view of the majestic Snaefellsnes glacier.
Unique benefits of the property
The cottage is genuinely cosy and a lovely place to relax. It is also a great place to come back to after a day trip. Our guests have gone on day trips as far north west as the Snaefellsnes glacier and as far south east as Jokulsarlon and Vik.
We love sitting on the terrace during summer evenings watching spectacular sunsets with little lambs grazing on the field in front of the cottage. Or dressing warmly during winter evenings and watch the northern lights dance across the sky. Unbeatable!
