Notes on accommodation
The apartment has full gas central heating with radiators and constant hot water. There is a large fan provided to cool you in the warmer weather. Smoking is not permitted in the apartment.

Coast/Beach
Hungary has no beaches but Lake Balaton is about 2 hours drive by car from Budapest or by train. Well worth a visit if you are staying a little longer. Lake Velencei can be reached in about 40 minutes by car.
Golf
There are local golf courses around Budapest and bigger courses approx 50 km away.

You can take a cruise along the Danube to Vienna
Travel
Ferihegy 1, Ferihegy 2/A and 2/B are about 15km away. Car hire is not necessary within the city as public transport facilities are excellent from the apartment.
Distances
All the main attractions of Budapest are extremely easy to get to either by walking or using the extensive public transport system.

About the owner
I live with my family in a GradeII listed house which over the years I have furnished with Georgian furniture and artifacts acquired from auctions. I have restored a number of derelict listed buildings in England and these have been let out as holiday properties. This elegance is why Budapest appealed to me. I fell in love with the apartment with its tall windows, cornices and parquet floors. I used local craftspeople to refurbish it so its original features could be shown again. But I also wanted it to be comfortable so visitors could relax with twentieth century comforts of central heating abnd the internet. I try to visit Budapest as much as possible but I am now busy teaching Politics at the University of Manchester. I have now and completed my doctorate.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
I love being part of Budapest's cafe/bar society and enjoy turn of the century elegance. My apartment is by the elegant Andrassy with its exclusive shops and I love enjoying a gateaux/ coffee sitting outside the pavement cafes of the theatres and people watching. On a hot summer's day its good to have a cool drink by the Danube or even go on a cruise there. Near the apartment there are some really interesting museums and art galleries reflecting Budapest's unique history.
Unique benefits of the property
The appartment is in esay of the Danube and is a good basis for touring. We have taken a short cruise along the river and some of our guests have taken a river cruise to Vienna. It is not far from the train stations and we have enjoyed rail trips to the surrounding countryside and the Roman town of Vas.
