The sixth largest country in the world, the Commonwealth of Australia
measures around 4000 km east to west, 3200 km north to south and covers a
vast area to the tune of well over 7 million sq km, with a population of
19.5 million that is concentrated largely on the eastern seaboard and along
the south east coast. The Great Dividing Range of mountains runs north to
south the entire length of the country separating the fertile eastern
coastal plain from the mighty, arid interior. Australia's biggest asset is
its wealth of outstanding natural beauty and the diversity of its
landscapes, which range from dense tropical rainforest to the north, across
barren, sun-baked desert to temperate southern beaches, (not forgetting the
snow capped mountains of the Great Dividing Range), providing a range of
environmental and climatic conditions that would suit the requirements of
anyone seeking holiday
accommodation in Australia.
Australian summers begin in December, winters in June although seasonal
temperature fluctuations are never extreme, except in desert regions. The
further north you travel, the more indistinct the seasonal variations become
so that by the time you reach Darwin in the far north, the only difference
is that it's either hot and wet or hot and dry! Depending on what level of
heat you can endure influences any decision about where in Australia to
spend your holiday, many people taking this opportunity of a lifetime to
travel within the country gaining the maximum experience of living in what
is, for some, another world. Sunshine and scenery are the most common
requirements of travellers seeking anything from an
apartment in
New South Wales to a hotel in the west - both of which are guaranteed
anywhere, unless you opt for an Australian skiing holiday in the mountain
resorts of either New South Wales or Victoria, although most tourists to
this part of the globe show an unquestionable desire to escape from the
winter cold!
Australia's cities take international culture and blend it with totally
home-grown traditions and a feel-good factor undoubtedly borne out of living
life almost permanently in a warm and sunny environment - a cosmopolitan
attitude that is repeated from Perth to Brisbane, Melbourne to Darwin and
everywhere in between. Whether you rent a
holiday
home in Victoria, New South Wales or Western Australia, every region of
the country has a city with its own special qualities that makes
it unique, reflecting the native importance, individuality and
characteristics of the part of Australia where it is situated - from the
graceful Victorian architecture of Melbourne to the progressive vibrancy of
Brisbane, to fact that Darwin is closer to Asia than it is to Sydney! Every
visitor to Australia has their own 'must do' list - from watching the
incredible changes to Uluru when the sun goes down to surfing from Bondi
Beach, one of the most popular entries is to scuba dive The Great Barrier
Reef, an ambition as good as fulfilled when you consider renting a
holiday apartment in Queensland. Australia really does have to be seen
to be believed.
