Notes on accommodation
Each room in Villa Octavius has been individually themed and decorated by Miranda Holland-Cooper to create surroundings of peace, tranquillity and total luxury. Ethnic furniture is complemented by carefully chosen traditional and modern art, wall-hangings and antiques-and lighting throughout the villa is subtle, mood-enhancing and totally controllable. All areas benefit from air-conditioning/heating, and Sonos Music System allows you to play different music in any and all three individual zones-(i)indoors, (ii)pool/patio and (iii)hammock tower. Music is sourced from the internet (recorded music or internet-available radio stations, including many BBC and UK local radio stations). An iPod sound dock is available, so that you can listen to your own MP3 music.
Outside
With easy access from the ground floor, a 200sq metre patio features: private 45 sq.m. walk in swimming pool (with 10 sunbeds); barbecue area; shaded dining area; open-air lounge with the much loved fire pit and wonderful views of Lefkas's eastern coastline - including the island Scorpios, owned by the Onassis shipping family. The patio area is ideal for barbecues,parties, corporate events, family celebrations- and even wedding receptions! Catering can be arranged on request, as can live music and other entertainment. Steps lead down from the patio to a totally private walled garden featuring four-person Jacuzzi, from where you can enjoy spectacular views of the dramatic high mountains to the west, lying beyond a valley of olive groves. Villa Octavius's garden has been landscaped with a series of stone terraces and surrounding flower beds, specially planted with blooms and herbs that give off delightful scent from dusk onwards. The villa has gated parking for over four cars.
Coast/Beach
There are many excellent beaches on the island of Lefkas, the water is clear and clean-and the sea temperatures are perfect for swimming for many months of the year. The closest beaches are less than five minutes' drive away -and to the north, near Lefkas town, Windmill beach is world famous for kite-surfing. To the south, at Vassiliki, the beach is one of the best in Europe for windsurfing and cat sailing. Beaches to the west coast are stunning and easily found by car.
Travel
Preveza (PVK) is the nearest airport approx 40 mins drive from Villa Octavius. Flights from many UK airports operate from May till the end of October. Flights from Holland and Scandinavian countries also come to Preveza. UK flight are usually on Sundays, Fridays and Wednesdays. Flights from Holland are on Saturdays.
Distances
The coastal village of Nidri is 1.5km from Villa Octavius. Lefkas town only 15kms away.

Steven Clarke-Lens, the English owner of Villa Octavius, is a well known historian and astronomer-and he runs a regular Sunset and Stars evening astronomy and mythology excursion from Nidri (www.uniqueexcursions.com) to a secluded beach for food and drink, stargazing and stories of ancient Greece. Steve also has a Mead LX200 10" telescope which he'll be happy to set up at the villa, if you'd like to enjoy your own astronomical exploration of crystal-clear night skies free of light pollution and clouds!
