Come and let us spoil you for a week or two in the comfort of our tranquil and spacious home and meet our affectionate cocker spaniel, Mia. Each bedroom has its own south-facing balcony with breathtaking views over Lourdas Bay and the Island of Zakinthos. We offer a high standard of accommodation. Full air-conditioning & central heating ensures comfort all year. Breakfast is served on the large top-floor balcony. From here you can see miles of the Livathos coastline stretching from the Liakas peninsular to Trapezaki and beyond. After a day's walking, painting, bird-watching, sightseeing or snorkelling you are welcome to relax and enjoy the terrace, pool and gardens and savour the spectacular Ionian sunsets. The Garden House is peacefully situated on the lower slopes of Mt Ainos - a protected National Park. Wild orchids abound in the spring, in the autumn crocus and cyclamen bloom. Wild horses still roam the mountain & from the balconies we have seen eagles, owls and bats!

The prices listed are per person per week for our master bedroom with ensuite (based on two people sharing).
Our double & twin rooms are £25.00 less per person per week (based on two people sharing)
Discounted rates are available for single occupancy of any room. Please ask for details.
Breakfasts, individual tea/coffee making facilities, linen & towels are all included.
Changeover day
Change-over and arrival/departure times are flexible.

Notes on accommodation
Please note that the accommodation is spread over three floors with curved marble stairs & wrought iron bannisters. Smoking is not permitted in the house.
Availability: Where a blue box shows on the availability chart it means we still have one or more rooms available. Please contact us as soon as possible for precise availability. The orange boxes mean we are fully booked.
Outside
The swimming pool measures 9x4 metres with steps at the shallow end.
Apricot, peach, orange & lemon trees produce abundant fruit and flowering shrubs include jasmine, plumbago, bourgainvilliea, roses & hibiscus.
The garden is level with steps to the pool, to the shaded area and to the main door.
There are a large number of parasols, sun-loungers, tables and chairs for guests' use.
The Garden House is in a no-through road. As there is only one other house in the lane there is no passing traffic.
At night the pool, gardens and gates are floodlit.
We are just 20 mins drive from the bustling cosmopolitan capital, Argostoli.
If you are flying to Kefalonia we will meet you at the airport & show you the village with its tavernas and well stocked mini-market. The airport is also 20 minutes drive and as we are not on the flight path there is no aircraft noise!
Coast/Beach
The Garden House is 15/20 minutes gentle walk to Lourdas Beach and slightly longer coming back as it is uphill in places!
There are many other beaches nearby. Katelios, favoured nesting-ground of the logger-head turtles and focus for volunteering is a short drive.
We strongly recommend hiring a car to explore the island fully. You may also wish to take the ferry to Ithaka, legendary home of Odysseus, or go across to the island of Zakinthos.
Travel
Getting to Kefalonia is straightforward. For the first time Easyjet will be flying direct to Kefalonia from Gatwick between April and October 2012. The other three carriers flying direct from most UK airports are Thomson, Thomas Cook and Monarch. Flying time is approx. 3.5 hours.

Your stay at The Garden House includes a leisurely Greek breakfast each day. This includes yoghurt and honey, crusty bread and croissants, local preserves, fresh fruits in season, island cheeses, juices, tea & coffee.
Evening meals (including traditional moussaka, stuffed aubergines and beef stifado) and picnic lunches can also be provided on request.
Booking notes
A deposit of £100 per person per week is requested to confirm your booking and the balance paid 6 weeks before arrival.

About the owner
Our names are Lee & Graham. We are recently retired and passionate about all things Greek - its history, people and culture. In 2004 we bought our first house in Kefalonia and sold it earlier this year before moving to The Garden House in Lourdata with our cocker spaniel Mia. Our home is situated in the area of Livathos in the south of Kefalonia where the scenery & walks are stunning. In the past we have enjoyed many B&B holidays in the UK and found the hospitality & friendliness of owners made them all the more special. Forbes Magazine described Kefalonia as "one of THE most idyllic places to live." Once visited we think you will agree.
