Villa Daphni was built in 2008 following the traditional style of a previously existing house. Positioned on the side of the valley of Pylaros this detached luxurious villa provides magnificent panoramic views both down to the azure Ionian waters of the Bay of Sami and around to the valley and the mountains. With a lovely 10x5 m pool in a beautiful pebble-paved terrace, a nice pergola and an elevated garden for a relaxing seating outside and fully air-conditioned, tastefully furnished interior with brand new upper-market furniture and electrical appliances for comfortable seating inside. Wi-Fi internet. Satellite TV. Home cinema. Peaceful location, with privacy. Yet, in walking distance from the village of Makryotika with traditional bakery, minimarket, cafes, taverna. 10 minutes drive from the superb Beach of Myrtos. Similar distance from Agia Efimia, with yacht marina, restaurants, cafes, pharmacy. Villa Daphni is fantastic for large families or those travelling with friends.

Changeover day
Preferred changeover day is Sunday. However, if bookings allow the changeover day can be negotiable.The accommodation will be ready for you by 4.00pm on your day of arrival and we would ask you to vacate the property by 10.00am on your day of departure.

Notes on accommodation
The property is fully air-conditioned for comfortable staying during summer. It also has a very efficient central heating for winter time. The fire place just adds the warm touch necessary for feeling "home". Boiler provides hot water uninterruptedly throughout the year. Wireless internet is provided for free. Some attention is advised for children under 8 in the area outside the house. Villa has private parking space for 2-3 cars inside a gated entrance.
Accessibility
A reasonably steep ramp permits transportation of wheeled suitcases, strollers or a wheel-chair from the parking space to the entrance of the house. The lower area of the house has no steps inside the house and only one small step entering the house which is easily navigable for wheelchairs. The double bedroom at the main floor with en-suit, separate wardrobe room, fire place and direct access to the terrace, is ideal for the elderly.
Outside
With a 10 x 5 m swimming pool in a beautiful pebble-paved terrace, beautifully lit at night, Villa Daphni is designed for outside living in the summer with seating and umbrellas for alfresco eating in front of panoramic views. Large concrete table outside the living room under a nice pergola suitable for eating up to 10 people. Gaz-operated BBQ ia provided at the terrace. An elevated garden with bench and coffee table offers magnificent sea and country views in peaceful and relaxing environment.
Coast/Beach
10 minutes drive from the breath-taking beach of Myrtos, one of the best beaches in Greece. Similar distance from Agia Efimia, with yacht marina, restaurants, cafes, car hire, rental of motor/sailing boats, pharmacy. Local walk trails can guide you to the beaches through the Valley of Pyllaros within 60-90 minutes of walk. 20 minutes drive from the superb beach of Antisamos.
Travel
15 min. drive from the port of Sami with ships to Patras and Italy. 45 min drive from the airport of Kefalonia. Although local bus-service and taxis exist, use of car is recommended.
Distances
In walking distance from the quiet, picturesque village of Makryotika with traditional bakery, minimarket, cafes, taverna. Largest nearby town is Sami, in 15 min drive distance with port, bank, shops, medical center, international press, postoffice car-rental. Caves of Melissani and Drogarati are located near Sami. Argostoli, the capital of the island, is 30 min. drive.
Further details
Kefalonia is the largest island in the Ionian Sea. The island is named after the mythological figure Cephalus. Its impressive caves, green slopes, azure waters and golden beaches offer the visitor infinite opportunities to relax in beautiful surroundings. Island's mountain Ainos covered with Abies cephalonica trees, is declared a natural park. Kefalonia is also well known for its endangered loggerhead turtle population which nest at Kaminia beach.
Pylaros is one of the most unspoiled areas of the island located very close to the mythical island of Ithaka. The small harbor of the Agia Efimia is a preferred spot of the sailing boats in Ionian Sea. The Myrtos bay, acclaimed as the best Greek beach, is the area's tourist attraction. The area, originally oriented in cattle-breeding with a high percentage of locals leaving the place for a better chance mainly as mariners, is recently making its first steps in tourism. Villa Daphni represents one of the best examples of the recently constructed villas in the area, which becomes a preffered destination for those seeking a quiet, untouched corner in the Ioanian Sea. At the same time the area is investing in aeolic power with its new aeolic power plant capable to cover big part of the island' s power needs.
Starting from the harbor of Santa Efimia, take a small boat and visit the near-by Ithaka, Ulysses' final destination, for an one day excursion! Or visit the small hidden beaches in the coastline. Visit the numerous small villages of Pylaros, and enjoy the quiet rural life. The picturesque village of Fiskardo is in 30 km distance.
Also, starting from Villa Daphni, you can follow one of the Local Walk Trails to guide you to the nearby beaches through the Valley of Pyllaros within 60-90 minutes of walk, or uphill to the Monastery of Themata with spectacular views. Scuba diving and water-ski courses are offered in Agia Efimia, while cave enthusiasts can visit the Caves of Melissani and Drogarati near Sami.

We stayed here for two weeks at the end of july with 6 adults and 5 children.
This house is such a wonderful place that you never want to leave. The facility, the location, the view - unique. If you sit in the moonlight before the house, the moon is reflected in the sea... and you get the smell of thyme in the nose, you want to be here forever. An excellent house-maid service, which brings fresh flowers every time. And George, the caretaker, a wonderful man who helps everyone every time and who is alsways in a great mood... It was great for our children, as they have always discovered new places where they could play. The location is wonderful for beach friends, you reach in 10-20minutes the Myrtos or Kyriaki Beach. And it is wonderful after a day to be back in Villa Daphni... grilling fresh fishes and enjoy the silence. We would always come back!

Me and my husband Miltiadis were both born in Ionian islands (Kefalonia and Corfu respectively). Although the last 20 years we live and work in Crete and we have traveled in many places all over the world, we love the Ionian landscape. All these years we spend our summer holidays together with our two sons in Kefalonia, with unbelievable consistency!!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
There is no year until today that we managed to resist our impulsion to spend some days in Pylaros during the summer. When we decided to built a holiday villa here, we were hoping that the result would make all visitors to leave with the same feeling that we leave Kefalonia every year: sure that we will come back next year!
