The house is situated by the Old Well where the women used to collect their water every day and put the world to rights. Next to the house is a tiny old church and on the other side are our nearest neighbours... a goat and chickens. The house is a short walk from the tavernas, shops, bars and the bus stop. It is possible to drive right up to the house along a narrow lane. The nearest beach and Patitiri are 5 minutes drive away. Both are walkable. It doesn't matter where you go on the island you will always have stunning views.

Notes on accommodation
The house is ideal if you want to come out of season as it has central heating...perfect if you are a keen walker or want to see the beautiful Spring flowers. As we live here all year round and live in the house next door we are available for advice and information. We have tried to provide you with everything to make it a home from home but with sun and spectacular scenery.
Accessibility
The house can be reached down a narrow lane by car. Parking can be quite interesting in the high season but there is plenty of parking at the end of the lane. There are steps up to the front door but there is access into the house via the patio doors without any steps. The island is very hilly so if you have mobility problems travelling by car is best. It is a short uphill walk to the centre of the Old Town and the bus stop.
Outside
There is a balcony from the bedroom that is partially covered with wonderful views to the sea and neighbouring islands. There is a table and chairs. The patio area in front of the house also has a table and chairs. There is a small shared space at the back of the house for drying towels and clothes after a day at the beach.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is Megalos Mourtias which has wonderful views. It has 2 tavernas. It is walkable or a 5 minute drive away. There are many beaches to discover along the length of the island with stunning views. Many have their own taverna. The beaches are mostly stony but swimming shoes can be purchased cheaply. The water is crystal clear so bring your snorkel and mask. Scuba lessons are available as well as hiring a boat for the day to go dolphin and monk seal spotting.
Special interest holidays
Nik is a keen painter and is happy to give advice and tell you where some of the most scenic places are to paint. For a small fee he will happily give lessons on sketching. We are both in the local rock and roll band so bring your guitar!
Travel
The nearest airport is Skiathos and then a ferry trip over to Alonissos. Ferries are plentiful during the high season. It is possible to fly to Athens or Thessaloniki and get a bus to Volos or Agios Konstantinos where you can get a ferry to the island. Car and moped hire is available to explore the island. Bus service is every half an hour during the high season to Patitiri. You can also get a bus to Steni Vala from Patitiri. Taxis are also plentiful.
Distances
It is a 5 minute drive to Patitiri and Megalos Mourtias. Both are walkable. It takes about 15 minutes to drive to Steni Vala

Owner profile
About the owner
We have lived on this beautiful island since August 2007 and love being part of the community. We both are in the local rock and roll band and the Greeks love us! Nik also paints and is happy to help with encouraging you to sketch and apply paint to paper.
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought the house in August 2007. It is an easy house to live in and has central heating for all year use.
It is situated in the Old Village with easy access to all the amenities but far enough away from any bazouki players that may get carried away with their strumming!
It is possible to drive to the house for anyone with mobility issues but it is also a good starting point for keen walkers to go exploring.
