Villa Martini is set in a most lovely part of Skinaria in North Zante surrounded by olives, pines, cypress and gorgeous views. The house is well situated near the sea and yet away from the busy coast road. A stunning completely private 10m x 5m pool (new 2008 pergola for shade) Martini is peaceful, with an open fireplace. Terracotta floors and whitewash walls. 3 large bedrooms, high beamed ceilings, 2 shower rooms, 1 en suite, arranged as 1 double and 2 twins are well furnished. The kitchen is compact and fully equipped providing all necessary facilities. Washing machine, gas BBQ and extra drinks fridge. Comfy sun loungers by the pool. French windows open to a large private walled garden and terrace paved with handmade tiles and ample outside seating. Al fresco dining is popular with our guests. Old olives for shade and linen umbrellas. A quiet cove below the house is within 5 mins and a long beach shingle/sand/pebbles with umbrellas and taverna is 8 mins away.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds.
Thursday is changeover day in high season, we try to be flexible in May, June and September.
Rental includes basic welcome pack, pool cleaning and testing every 2 days, as well as clean sheets and house towels every 7 days.
Beach towels are not provided.
Normally a 25% deposit is required upon confirmation of booking and the balance paid 8 weeks prior to departure. Upon receipt of the balance we will provide full directions and a map.

Pets not allowed, children welcome.
The gallery is 4m x 5m and private. It has a lovely window view to the sea. A small cottage in the garden 25m from the house contains a second drinks fridge, the washing machine. and an oven. Outside this cottage is a gas BBQ, as most cooking is done al fresco in the summer (together with eating and entertaining). Washing line and pegs in the garden behind the house. The pool pump room is 30m from the house and cannot be heard. A table tennis table is provided with bats. Parking for 6 cars. The garden has a variety of shrubs and flowers as well as olive, cypress fruit and fig trees. House towels are provided and changed weekly, together with linen. Beach towels are not provided. A modern child's cot is also available upon request. There is an iron, an ironing board and a hairdryer.
All windows have shutters. Internal doors are green pine with Norfolk latches.

Secluded and private seating around the swimming pool new pergola in 2008 for shade. Most cooking is done outside, there is a gas BBQ, and a second drinks fridge and an oven in a small cottage in garden.

Coast/Beach
Beach, 4km.
The sea is 3 kilometres by car. Quiet secluded coves or larger beaches with more to offer are close at hand. Boat hire is available from fishing village below house.
There are 2 small coves just below the house where swimming in crystal water is an alternative to the pool.

Special interest holidays
The Peligoni sailing club is 12 minutes away.social and sailing membership can be arranged on request.

Travel
Zakynthos Airport is 30km.
Aghios Nicholas ferry port is 8km. Daily ferries run from the port of Saint Nicholas, 15 minutes away, and day trips to Cephalonia are possible and fun.
A car a necessary.

Distances
The pretty traditional Greek villages of Ano Volimes and Volimes are 5 mins drive away. Here you can buy freshly baked bread, fruit, vegetables, eggs, home made honey and most other provisions that you may need.

Further details
The internal walls of the villa are whitewashed with antique plain terracotta floor tiles and hand knotted rugs. Bathrooms are fully tiled with beamed ceilings. Comfortable soft sofas, plenty of seating both inside and out. Beds are solid hand made pine, made by our local carpenter Georgos, fully fitted pine wardrobes hand made. Lovely walks in the surrounding hills. Our guest book tells of families and couples who have returned to Martini to enjoy the friendly and peaceful nature of the house.

We have a list for guests in the house of tavernas we like, updated by us every spring. The northern part of the island remains mainly undeveloped and therefore has retained a sense of the past where time does not matter and life goes on at a leisurely pace. Excellent walking. 3 monasteries within a 30 minute drive, 1 in a ruined state, and when walking from the hamlet the smell of wild herbs makes the experience memorable. The Macherado pottery is only a 20 minute drive.

Guest comments
We particularly enjoyed the peaceful, restorative nature of the house. The completely private pool is very special. Breakfast underneath the olive tree on the terrace.. listening to the cicadas... time stood still. Very private and peaceful , yet near everything that mattered to us.
