Villa Kyparissi is situated on a 1.800m² property at the edge of the little village of Makriotika, approx. 5km from Agia Efimia. It´s a peaceful and low-key traditional village with gentle tourism and typical Greek atmosphere. The location offers a fantastic view over the green valley of Pylaros to the Ionian Sea, the surrounding mountains and little villages. Here is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the authentic Greek life.
The spectacular beach of Myrtos (one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece) and the picturesque harbour of Agia Efimia (with a lot of small flint bays, lovely taverns, cafés and shopping facilities) are just 10 min drive from the villa. In the village square (5 min walk) you will find a friendly tavern with typical Kefalonian food, a Café and a mini market.
The villa has a private pool and offers high quality accommodation that combines traditional style with the latest modern amenities. All fittings and furnishings are of the highest standard.

Changeover day
Sunday is the preferable changeover day. However, subject to availability, other days may be considered. Please contact us. Guests are kindly requested to depart by 10am and arrive after 3pm.

Notes on accommodation
Air conditioning is provided in all bedrooms. All windows and balcony doors are equipped with mosquito screens. Baby Cot, High Chair and Pool Towels are provided. Free wireless internet access. Private parking place inside a gated entrance.
The villa can accommodate a 7th person (if child) by using the sofa bed in the living room. The rate has to be agreed. Please contact us.

Outside
Outside there is a private pool (approx. 8,0 x 4,0 m), checked and maintained on a daily basis. The pool terrace is equipped with 6 relaxing sunbeds and sun umbrellas. Two terraces (a sea-facing terrace on the eastern side and a mountain-facing terrace on the western side) are equipped with high quality wooden garden furnishings and provide comfortable sitting facilities with both, sun and shade. A mobile electric grill is just perfect for dining al fresco on warm and lazy evenings. A beautiful Mediterranean garden with colourful geraniums, roses, oleanders, sweet herbs and a lot of butterflies is at your doorstep.
Coast/Beach
The closest beach is the famous Myrtos Beach (approx. 5km), one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. Surrounding Agia Efimia (5km) you will find a lot of small white pebble coves with clear crystal water, ideal for snorkelling. Furthermore, you can rent a motorboat in Agia Efimia and visit the numerous idyllic bays accessable only by boat. A trully unique experience!
Travel
The easiest way to come to Kefalonia is by direct flight to the airport of Argostoli (EFL),approx.40 km from the villa. If such a flight is not provided in your country, you can take a flight to Athens and then a connected flight to Kefalonia. Alternatively, you can take a car rental in Athens and drive to the ports of Patras or Kyllini. From those ports there are daily ferries to Kefalonia. We will be glad to assist you by your travel arrangements.Please contact us. A car rental is recommended.

The village of Makriotika is situated 5km from the picturesque port of Agia Efimia, framed by high mountains, on a height of more than 200m. The Kefalonians call it "The balcony of Pylaros", as it offers, indeed, a fascinating view across the wide valley of Pylaros: the port of Agia Efimia, the sea, the surrounding high mountains and the small traditional villages. Across the water, you can see Ithaca and some days you can even make out the mountains of Peloponnes.
Makriotika is located in the centre of the island, and is thus an ideal base for exploring the island. Here you can taste the flavour of the authentic Greek life. A nice "Platia" (village square), small red-roofed houses with flower-filled terraces, a traditional café, a friendly tavern, a mini-market, a bakery, a school and, as in each Greek village, a church. In the summer, the Platia is filled with playing children, native and emigrant Kefalonians and tourists. There are numerous beaches closed to the villa offering opportunities for swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving in the summer.
The location is also ideal for nature lovers and hikers:
You can walk for example to Agia Efimia. You will pass through an old traditional village, above the valley of Pylaros and facing Agia Efimia and the sea. Or you can leave the main road and take one of the several paths going through the valley to Agia Efimia. You can also walk to the beautiful monastery of Themata (approx. 4 km) which offers spectacular views. A path from the monastery leads to the top of the wild mountain of Agia Dynati and its new aeolic power park, capable to cover big part of the island' s power needs. Furthermore, you have the opportunity to visit the Bavarian Horse Riding Stables in Sami (approx. 18 km from the villa) and take part in a horse ride, a completely different way of exploring Kefalonia, by following old donkey trails with wonderful views through olive groves and fruit orchards.
