Villa Miranda is situated in the small, peaceful village of Melana, set on the Arcadian hillside overlooking the sea. The village has changed little over the centuries and the villagers still use donkeys for their work. The whole area for many miles around is extremely beautiful with mountain slopes covered with olive groves and eucalyptus trees sloping down to the clear sparkling sea with its clean and deserted beaches. The house has 2 terraces both of which are secluded. 1 terrace has sun loungers and spectacular views of the whole Aegean Sea. On the second terrace, a large dining table and chairs stand in the shade of a huge mulberry tree. The new small infinity pool in the grounds of the house overlooks the sea with the islands of Spetses and Hydra in the distance. The new pool area of the villa near the shade of a mulberry tree provides an additional terrace on which to relax and take an evening drink watching the sunset.

Accessibility
Cars can be brought to within 100 yards of the house.
A four-wheel drive car can be taken to the front gate of the villa.
There is a small shop in the village which sells non-perishables. The nearest small supermarkets are well stocked.
Outside
There is a tiered patio garden full of mature shrubs and plants. Potted plants of geraniums, jasmin etc. decorate all the terrace areas. There is a barbecue in the original farmhouse oven. The two terrace areas have breathtaking views of the sea with one terrace overlooking the pool.
There is a large wooden garden dining table which comfortably seats 8 set in the shade of an old mulberry tree.
Plenty of sun-loungers, deck-chairs, lights around pool and pool-side glasses and wine-glasses.

Coast/Beach
The village beach is 1-2 kms from the house and can be reached on foot. The uphill walk home in the heat, however, may make all but the hardy, prefer the 3 minute drive. There are numerous other beaches along the coast within a few miles of the villa, all stunningly beautiful ranging from the completely unspoilt and deserted to others with small tavernas offering seating and umbrella facilities free of charge.
Snorkelling and under-water diving facilities - a recent addition in nearby Leonidion
Travel
The villa is about 2 and three quarter hours from Venezelos Airport in Athens. Alternative route is via flights to Kalamata.
Car hire is available at reasonable prices. We can arrange for the hired car to be brought to you at the airport arrivals.
Distances
In addition to the complete tranquillity of the village of Melana, there is more lively night life in the summer season to be found in the neighbouring towns of Tyros (8 km) and Leonidion (12 km), Naplion (1 hour by car). There are numerous tavernas where you can enjoy a drink or a meal. Day trips by hydrofoil or boat (variable distances) to Monemvasia, Spetses, Hydra and several neighbouring islands.

Epidaurus: the marvellously preserved classical Greek theatre.
Sparta: the legendary city of ancient Greece.
Mistras: a medieval Frankish city with beaufiful architecture.
Monemvasia: a walled town now linked to the mainland via a narrow promontory.
Naplion: the former capital of Greece with its maze of narrow streets, open-air cafes and colouful shops.
